  • Och aye! Fancy a wee bit of Scotland in Waterloo?

Come try Scottish Country Dancing in UpTown Waterloo!

Most classes will be taught in English, but from time to time, we'll have a French-language class where the entire session will be in French. So if you're learning French or simply looking for a fun way to practise, these special sessions are a great opportunity to put your French to use while getting active and learning something new!

Never tried Scottish Country Dancing before? Dinnae worry, ye'll be guided!

No kilt or ghillies? Nae bother!

No partner? Dinnae fash, ye'll dance with plenty of folk!

Scottish Country Dancing is social by nature, so you'll dance with different people throughout the class.

Join us for a fun, high-energy class where new dancers are always welcome, while more experienced dancers can keep challenging themselves and progressing! The footwork isn't too complicated: this isn't Highland dance or tap dancing!

    In each session, you'll:

    • Practise some footwork
    • Learn and practise different dance formations
    • Learn new dances every time

With more than 22,000 dances in the Scottish Country Dance repertoire, there's always something new to discover. You'll never get bored!

    What do I need?

No experience is required, and you don't need a kilt or ghillies.

Just bring a water bottle, comfortable clothes, and soft-soled shoes. If you already have ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or ghillies, even better! Please, no heels.

Come on your own or bring a friend. Just be ready to dance with others, have some fun, and discover Scottish Country Dancing!

    Everyone is welcome!

  • About the Teacher

Claire discovered Scottish Country Dancing in Lyon, France, her home country, and has never looked back!

Her passion for Scottish Country Dancing has taken her around the world. She has danced in Scotland, England, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Italy, Australia, the United States, and, of course, Canada.

Claire is a fully accredited Scottish Country Dance teacher with the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. She completed her teaching accreditation in Summer 2026 in St Andrews, Scotland.

She is also an active competitive dancer. Claire has competed at the Newcastle Festival in the UK with the Lyon Branch Team and later formed and led the first North American team to compete at the Newcastle Festival.

Claire is also a member of the organising committee for the North American Festival of Scottish Country Dance, a new event that launched in 2026. Inspired by the Newcastle Festival, it brings the excitement of Scottish Country Dance competition to North America.

Whether you're completely new to Scottish Country Dancing or already have some experience, Claire's goal is to make every class welcoming, energetic, and, above all, fun!
