• BHIA Member Poll

BHIA is seeking input from members in good standing regarding proposed zoning changes affecting West Roxbury. The brief explanations below are intended to clarify what each question is asking so members can make an informed response. Please answer each question Yes or No.
  • 1. Notice to Abutters

  • What this means: Notice of proposed development may be published in the local newspaper, The Bulletin. This question asks whether neighboring property owners should also receive direct written notice by mail of proposed development on an abutting property.

  • Should abutters receive due notice of proposed new development on neighboring properties?*
  • 2. Single-Family Zoning

  • What this means: Under current single-family zoning, property changes require a variance, which allows for review and public input. Under the proposed multifamily zoning, development will proceed as of right.

  • Should existing single-family zoning in West Roxbury be changed to as-of-right multifamily zoning?
  • 3. Parking Requirements

  • What this means: This question asks whether residential development should continue to be subject to zoning requirements for a minimum amount of off-street parking, or whether development should be permitted without a minimum off-street parking requirement.

  • Should existing residential parking requirements be eliminated?
  • 4. Corporate / For-Profit Property Ownership

  • What this means: This question concerns whether a for-profit corporation or other business entity purchasing residential property for development should be required to disclose its development intention to the surrounding neighborhood.

  • Should for-profit corporations or other business entities be permitted to purchase residential properties in West Roxbury for development without identifying their for-profit development intention to the neighborhood?
