APPLICATION AND VIDEO AUDITION
Winds Audition Requirements
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Perform your assigned region or district audition literature for your grade level (e.g., Midstate, All-West, All-East, Kentucky Region, etc). All 7-12 grade applicants will submit a video. No scales are required. You will submit this video via link to a YouTube video - be sure the video link works and is set to ‘unlisted’ or ‘public’ (not ‘private’) before submitting.
Percussion Audition Requirements
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Perform your assigned region or district audition literature for your grade level (e.g., Midstate, All-West, All-East, Kentucky Region, etc). All 7-12 grade applicants will submit a video. For 10–12 auditions, applicants are required to perform mallet, snare drum and timpani excerpts. For Festival Band auditions, timpani is optional but encouraged. For 7–9 auditions, applicants may select one, two or all three areas to include in their video audition. Applicants who demonstrate proficiency on multiple percussion instruments may be given preference. You will submit this video via link to a YouTube video - be sure the video link works and is set to ‘unlisted’ or ‘public’ (not ‘private’) before submitting.
Audition Submission Link
Submit one YouTube link containing your video audition materials. The performer must remain clearly visible at all times throughout the recording.
If you have any technical or personal issue which prohibits uploading a video to YouTube, please contact us via email at apsuhonorband@gmail.com with the student name and a description of the issue. These emails would be due TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the due date (Nov 1), so a solution can be discussed before the deadline.
Part Assignments
What part assignments do you typically play in your current ensemble? Example, Tpt 1 or Cl 2. If your ensemble utilizes rotational seating, please include any supporting details to advocate for your appropriate seating placement.
Honor Festivals
Have you previously been accepted into a regional or state-level honor festival? If yes, please explain and provide chair placement.

APSU Honor Orchestra Consideration
Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion students may be considered for both the APSU Honor Band and the APSU Honor Orchestra Wind Section.

This is a separate festival, taking place on a separate weekend.

By participating in the festival, all participants hereby grant permission to the Austin Peay State University Department of Music, its representatives, and sponsoring partners to use any photograph(s) and/or video(s) obtained through the Austin Peay State University Honor Band Festival for promotional and marketing purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of my image in print materials, websites, social media, newsletters, press releases, and other promotional materials.

By signing, I acknowledge my commitment to participate in the Austin Peay State University Honor Band Festival on February 25–27, 2027. I understand that, if accepted, I am responsible for attending the festival and paying the $50 participation fee. I understand that this fee is non-refundable.
