• reFramed Residency Application - Artmodels

    Hi there!

We’ve put together this little info section in the hopes that it will help you with your application.

We recommend using a word document to write your answers and then paste them on the form, in case you lose internet connection and don’t have to restart from scratch. You don’t need to answer every prompt, but the more information you share with us, the better we’ll be able to make an informed decision. You will also need to have at hand some examples of your work. If you make a mistake after you hit Submit, you can submit a new one. We will consider the latest we have from you once we start reviewing once the applications are closed.

Much luck and looking forward to getting to know you better!

    Selection process

We’ll consider applicants’ portfolios and careers, their advocacy and community work, and the diversity of backgrounds represented across the group.

We are aiming to bring together a heterogeneous group, so please don’t take our decision as a marker of the quality of your work. Our decision may simply reflect the composition of the group at this particular moment, and the fact that we may already have several models coming from similar backgrounds.

This call is open until the 30th of September. You don’t need to rush. We’ll review applications after the call closes and be in touch with selected models during the first week of October. If you’re not selected this time, you’ll hear from us by email shortly afterwards. Please don’t contact us through private channels, as this only makes the process more difficult to manage.

Models from previous editions are welcome to apply. As with all applicants, selection will also take into account the composition of the group as a whole.

    About the Residency

    Dates: 10th-16th May 2027

    Location: Greece

In case it wasn't obvious, this Residency is a paid work opportunity.

Your accommodation and meals are covered.
You’ll be expected to pose for around 8-9 hours throughout the five-day programme, scheduled across individual, duo and group poses. You will be entirely free to set up and direct your sessions, deciding how you would like to structure and break down your poses and themes. In the past, models have brought props and accessories to create sessions they feel proud of and inspired by.

The pay for the whole week is 800€, paid via bank transfer shortly after the Residency finishes. Models are responsible for complying with any tax obligations applicable in their country of residence.

During the week, you are free to use your free time as you wish, including booking private sessions with artists. This Residency is a living lab for experimentation between artists that are truly dedicated to figurative art and models who also consider it a fundamental part of who they are. We are here because we are passionate about the craft and we want to explore its fullest potential and develop the model-artist bond that is neglected in common lifedrawing contexts. We are also doing this because we believe that getting together and talking deeply about the different sides of what we do is urgent and nurturing. And also, because much of what we do as models and artists happens in considerable isolation.

Models retain full control over how they set up and direct their sessions and are always free to establish their own boundaries. If you’ve always had a wild idea in mind that you wished you could explore while posing, this is the place to try it.

Photography is forbidden in session-settings and we explicitly discourage artists from asking for a photo mid-pose. You can however set up photo-reference sessions with artists that have a specific project in mind that they envision developing with you. Photography and documentation of the Residency will take place by a professional arranged by reFramed, if you wish to remain off-camera, this will always be granted. Participants may take pictures outside session and studio settings.

You can also consult our Community Guidelines here. By participating in the Residency, you agree to uphold these principles and contribute to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone.

  • Further info

Transportation: reFramed provides an allowance of 50% of inter-continental flight costs for models coming from locations outside Europe. We are hoping to raise funds through our patronage programme and sponsorships so we can raise this percentage and also cover transportation within Europe. A return flight to Greece currently costs: 550-900€ from major capitals. You’re in charge of arriving in Athens before our transfers (2-4pm on the 10th), we’ll take you back to the same spot on the 16th, unless you want to continue your travels from the Residency around Greece.

Visas: we'll accompany you through your Visa process and will provide necessary evidence for your case so you can get an appropriate visa if needed. We also provide invitation letters with proof of accommodation for migration purposes in case it’s required. You will be in charge of setting up appointments, research documentation and providing the correct information. Any costs related to this process is to be covered by the applicant.

Accomodation: models share rooms with people of their same gender. Everyone sleeps in their own bed.

Meals: All meals, snacks and drinks are covered. We’ll make sure to know your dietary restrictions beforehand.

Cancellation: when we book you, we send a letter of commitment that you have to sign. It means that you commit to attend the Residency unless events of force majeure happen. If we need to cancel the Residency after you have booked your travel, we will make reasonable efforts to reimburse documented, non-refundable travel expenses incurred specifically for your participation. In cases of force majeure, however, reimbursement of travel expenses cannot be guaranteed and may depend on our ability to recover these costs through insurance or other relevant providers.

Travel insurance: We strongly recommend taking out appropriate travel insurance for your journey and stay in Greece. reFramed will also ensure that appropriate insurance is in place in relation to the Residency and its activities. This does not replace personal travel insurance, which may cover circumstances such as travel disruptions, cancellations, lost belongings and other personal expenses.

Important: The residency includes opportunities to contribute to the wider reFramed programme. Some residents may also be invited to take part in public conversations or workshops, depending on their interests and the programme. Any additional activities will be paid separately, on top of the modelling fee.
