Journey from Hiroshima’s emotional history of devastation to the enduring faith and resilience symbolised by the Kobe “Miracle” Mosque on this exclusive 3D/3N add-on tour.
Day 1 — Hiroshima
Hiroshima was destroyed on August 6, 1945, when the United States dropped the world’s first atomic bomb during World War II, instantly killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians. Today, the city stands as a powerful symbol of global anti-war peace efforts and an extraordinary example of rebuilding and resilience.
Walk through the Atomic Bomb Museum and Peace Memorial Park to encounter deeply impactful displays telling the stories of Japanese survivors of Hiroshima, including the often-forgotten Muslim survivors from Malaysia and Brunei. Together, we will reflect on meaningful parallels to Palestine today. The day concludes with a special dinner experience where you’ll grill your own okonomiyaki, a beloved Hiroshima specialty.
Day 2 — Miyajima Island
Continue to the serene beauty of Miyajima Island, known for its tranquil seaside atmosphere and preserved traditional charm. Wander historic streets and local food stalls, with an optional delightful fluffy pancake experience (subject to availability). We will also hold thoughtful comparative-religion discussions exploring Islam alongside Shinto symbolism.
Day 3 — Himeji & Kobe
Visit Himeji Castle, widely regarded as Japan’s most magnificent castle and our best cherry blossom viewing opportunity of the entire trip. If we catch full bloom, delicate blossoms frame the brilliant white castle exterior in a breathtaking, picture-perfect scene. Explore the castle’s remarkable defensive interior, navigating narrow corridors and steep ladders that reveal the ingenuity of samurai-era design.
Continue to Kobe to visit the historic Kobe Mosque. Built in 1935, it is Japan’s oldest mosque. During World War II air raids, the surrounding buildings were destroyed while the mosque remained standing and sheltered people during times of crisis—earning it the title of the “Miracle” Mosque. It also withstood the devastating 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, further cementing its legacy of resilience. The journey concludes with a reserved premium halal Wagyu grill experience, where you’ll taste this renowned Japanese beef for yourself.
**Please note: This add-on is off-the-beaten-track and more adventurous than the main tour. Guests must be comfortable carrying suitcases on and off trains independently. Moderate mobility is required, including ladders inside Himeji Castle.
