Guidance notes
Who is this scholarship for? This post graduate scholarship is for individuals who have already gained a degree and who are about to train/study at post graduate level. The study must be in the field of mental health and the applicant must be able to demonstrate a proven interest and prior context of study or work in the field of mental health. The applicant must also have a sound academic record. What will be considered? Funding to support any post-graduate training/study, very clearly aligned to the field of mental health at a recognised institution. What preferences does the trust have? In accordance with the Vic Davis Trust Deed the trust will give preference to: Individuals who have an Eastern Bay of Plenty (EBoP) association. This association may be that the individual is from the EBoP or has lived there previously, has family there or is planning to work there. (EBoP is described as the region encompassed by Otamarakau to Lottin Point to Murupara). Given Vic’s interest in youth and family the Trust is more likely to give preference to training relating to young persons. What level of funding may be considered? Scholarship funding is given up to a maximum of $10,000 Applicants are expected to give a budget outline broadly detailing how the funding would be used to support the course of study, (e.g. fees, textbooks, equipment). Applicants also can write a justification for the level of funding and/or specifically budgeted items and you are encouraged to take this opportunity. What is the expected time frame for projects/study? It is expected that the course of study be undertaken as full-time study and be completed within the host institution’s expected time frame. What is the role of referees? You are expected to provide the name and contact details of three people who will act as referees to support your application. Such referees should have sufficient knowledge of your academic work to date to enable them to verify your suitability for the scholarship. It is your responsibility to ensure that your referees are aware that you have nominated them and that they are familiar with the content of your application. At least two of these referees may be contacted by the Trust if your application is shortlisted. Please note that if referees have not responded to the Trust’s request for further information within 14 days of being contacted, your application will lapse. Are there any special requirements regarding the application form? It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the application form is completed in full. Any incomplete applications will not be considered. Application forms must be received by the Trust by July 31st. Late applications will not be considered. All recipients of a Vic Davis Memorial Trust post-graduate scholarship will provide regular progress reports to the Trust (six-monthly) using the relevant report template from the website. The information requested in this application will be used for the purpose of assessing this proposal. For public interest purposes, the Vic Davis Memorial Trust reserves the right to release the applicant’s name, course of study and funding awarded for successful applicants. Any queries should be addressed to admin@vicdavistrust.org
