• Five Factors™ Fundamentals Assessment

In 3–5 minutes, assess your fundraising readiness across Sharity’s Five Factors™: Plan, Outcomes, Budget, Team, Donors.
  • Plan Readiness

This section checks strategic clarity—what you’re funding, who it’s for, and whether the supporter path is defined.
  • Is a clear, written 24-36-month organization strategy currently in place in writing? You may describe this as business plan or strategic plan.*
  • Can your organization's mission and value be articulated in a single sentence?*
  • Are there 1–2 funding priorities, avoiding too many competing needs?*
  • Do you have a clearly defined donor profile that specifies who, what (motivations/interests), and where (location/platform)?*
  • Is a defined donor journey established, including stages and next steps (e.g., first contact → commitment → stewardship)?*
  • Outcomes & Proof

This section checks whether your outcomes are measurable, consistent, and donor-ready.
  • Do you consistently track and report on measurable outcomes, rather than just activities? If you can count them, most likely they are activities, not outcomes.*
  • Is your organization's value clearly defined? (e.g., Impact, results, cost avoided, Return on Investment (ROI), or proof points)*
  • Do you possess at least three donor-ready proof assets? (e.g., Snapshots, success stories, testimonials, dashboards, one-pagers)*
  • Are the organization's "outcomes messages" consistent across all materials and conversations?*
  • Can you articulate, "What defines success in the next 12-24 months, and how will it be measured?"*
  • Budget & Funding Targets

This section checks whether your budget, costs, and funding targets clearly support your priorities.
  • Does your organizational budget align with and show funding for your strategic priorities over the next 24-26 months? Do you have a one year budget or one that covers 2-3 years?*
  • Are true program costs (including direct, shared, and overhead) known?*
  • Are clear funding targets set for each priority (e.g., amount needed, timeline, and impact)? Not just for the overall organization, but individual services and programs as well.*
  • Is there a revenue plan detailed by source (e.g., individuals, grants, sponsors, major gifts, events)?*
  • Is the organization's dashboard (tracking revenue, cash flow, and donor progress) reviewed regularly?*
  • Team Capacity & Systems

This section checks ownership, follow-up consistency, and whether you have a system to track next steps.
  • Are specific roles assigned for donor engagement activities (e.g., outreach, follow-up, asks, stewardship)?*
  • Is there a defined strategy for follow-up to maintain supporter engagement?*
  • Does the organization possess the necessary capacity for the successful delivery of funded programs, including tracking and reporting on outcomes?*
  • Do you utilize a system (e.g., CRM or spreadsheet) for tracking donors and subsequent steps, including activity?*
  • Are Board members and/or organizational ambassadors assigned specific fundraising tasks (e.g., introductions, meetings, thank-you calls/notes, hosting events)?*
  • Donor Development

This section checks lead flow, nurturing cadence, major gifts approach, and retention/upgrade habits.
  • Do you consistently generate new, qualified donor leads each month?*
  • Is a consistent donor nurturing cadence implemented, such as email and direct outreach tailored to donor interests?*
  • Is a defined, relationship-based giving approach in place (e.g., identify → cultivate → invite/ask → steward)?*
  • Is a donor retention plan established? (Examples include thank-you standards, impact reporting, relationship touches, and gift upgrades.)*
  • Can you clearly articulate the giving/investment levels and the specific impact of each for both? This should be for both small gifts (annual fund) and major investments.*
