What is Disability Media Action?
We are seeing growing concerns about the way Disabled people are represented in parts of the UK media. These representations can shape public attitudes, reinforce discrimination, and contribute to the hostile environment many Deaf and Disabled people experience in everyday life.
Inspired by the principles behind Stop Funding Hate, we wanted to do something about this.
Our aim is to create a Disabled people-led system for monitoring media coverage and gathering evidence about how disabled people are portrayed in the media.
How can I get involved?
If you have seen media coverage the shows Disabled people in a negative way, you can fill out this form to tell us about it.
We will use the information to look for and research recurring patterns of how Disabled people are portrayed in the media.
What information will you collect and how will you use it?
We will ask for details about media coverage (broadcaster, links, screenshots, visible advertising) and what you think about it.
You may optionally share whether the content reflects personal experiences of discrimination or disability-related stigma. You do not have to.
If you do share personal information, some of that information may be Special Category Data (health and disability information) under GDPR. We ask your consent to use the data you share below.
Responses, quotes, and screenshots may be aggregated, anonymised, and used in public campaign reports, policy briefings or used to engage with the media and advertisers. We will never publish your name without separate, explicit permission.
You can withdraw your consent at any time prior to report publication. As the entries are anonymous, it may be more difficult to find your form without details but we will always do our best to work with you. After publication, you can ask us to stop using your information any further, but we might not be able to remove anything used in reports or publications.
Please go to www.inclusionlondon.org.uk/privacy-and-cookie-policy/ for more information about your data rights and how to exercise them.
