We are current and retired educators that know from years of experience what our students need to succeed: Excellent teachers, caring school staff, strong academic programs, safe classrooms that welcome all, and communities that appreciate all of this and want to invest in public education. That’s why we are supporting Sarah Rogerson for State Senate. Rogerson understands and appreciates public education, not simply as a candidate, but also through her experience serving from 2020 to 2023 on the Niskayuna Central School District Board of Education, including two years as Vice President. In this role she worked directly with educators, administrators, families, and students to deliver on their priorities. Sarah understands the importance of fully funding Foundation Aid, continuing to Fix Tier VI, and prioritizing the wellbeing of students in class. That’s also why she took on the gun industry after her nephew was shot in a 2021 school shooting, bringing greater accountability to this powerful lobby to help prevent future tragedies. Sarah is willing to do the hard work of bringing real results to our schools. As a mother, she knows the value of universal pre-kindergarten, robust after school programming, free school meals, and reducing screen time in the classroom. As our State Senator, she’ll be a consistent AYE vote on NYSUT’s top priorities, and a yes for our teachers and students. Sarah Rogerson has already sat at the table where decisions affecting teachers, students, taxpayers, and families have to be made. She understands what our schools need because she has done the work.
