• Stigma Highlighted: Beyond the Label -Participant Application

Share details about you and your loved one to be considered for the Stigma Highlighted—Beyond the Label installation.
  • Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2027 installation of Stigma
Highlighted – Beyond the Label. We are so very deeply sorry for your loss.

Stigma Highlighted-Beyond the Label, is a community legacy art project designed to challenge the stigma surrounding addiction. Experienced local artists will be enlisted to create portraits of individuals from Maryland whose lives were lost to addiction. Accompanying each portrait will be stories shared by family members and loved ones, highlighting the individual's passions, achievements, personality, and the lasting impact they made on those around them. The completed collection of portraits and stories will be first exhibited at Salisbury University in April 2027 and later at the Art League of Ocean City during National Recovery Month in September 2027. At the conclusion of the exhibition, each participating family will receive the original portrait of their loved one as a lasting tribute.

The first step is to complete this application. Your information is confidential and will not be shared with any third-party organizations.

Applications will be accepted until October 16, 2026.

Our goal is to accept 30 applications, and we expect to have our final roster of
participants and artists selected no later than November 1, 2026. If selected, you will be invited to participate in a virtual onboarding meeting in early November to learn more program details and meet the artists. Portraits will be completed by February 14, 2027.
