Washington St Reconstruction Project Community Survey

Community feedback on the Washington St reconstruction project.
The City of Ellis has been setting aside funds each year for the future reconstruction of Washington Street from the south side of the Big Creek Bridge to the intersection of 10th Street and Washington Street. This project would include reconstructing the street, replacing aging water and sewer infrastructure, relocating utilities from beneath the roadway to the sides of the street, and improving sidewalks throughout the project area.

Before moving forward, the City Council would like to hear from residents, property owners, and business owners regarding their preferences for the future design of Washington Street. Your feedback will help guide planning efforts and determine the most fiscally responsible path forward.

Street Design Rankings

Please rank the following street design options in order of preference, with 1 being your most preferred option and 5 being your least preferred option. Use each number only once. Option descriptions are below.
Full existing brick street from curb to curb ranking (See Picture Below)
A new concrete base would be installed, and the existing brick would be restored on top of the concrete base across the entire street from curb to curb. Some existing bricks may need to be replaced due to age and condition.
Full new brick street from curb to curb ranking (See Picture Below)
A new concrete base would be installed, and new clay brick or concrete pavers would be installed on top of the concrete base across the entire street from curb to curb.
Concrete driving lanes with brick parking areas ranking (See Picture Below)
The driving lanes would be reconstructed of concrete, while the parking areas will receive a new concrete base to improve structural integrity before the existing brick is reinstalled.

The entire street, including parking areas and driving lanes, would be reconstructed using concrete.

The street would be reconstructed entirely in concrete, reusing existing or new decorative brick accents to outline crosswalk perimeters for enhanced visibility. To maintain ADA compliance, the bricks would border the crosswalk rather than serve as part of the walking surface.
