*The IRS does not allow you to deduct the value of your time or labor as a direct charitable contribution. So if you donate hours of quilting service, you personally cannot deduct an hourly “rate.” However, you can deduct any out-of-pocket expenses you incur while donating the service. For example, thread, batting, needles, backing fabric, or even mileage driven to deliver the quilt. Day 1 Bags will issue a tax acknowledgment letter.
