    Our mission is to educate, advocate, and uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals through diverse community initiatives and celebrations. We strive to provide a platform that fosters understanding, acceptance, and inclusivity within our local community.

    As Henderson KY Pride continues to grow, we are creating our first dedicated social media position to strengthen our online presence, reach new audiences, support fundraising, and better connect our community to our work.

    Position Overview
    The Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for managing and growing Henderson KY Pride's social media presence.

    Henderson KY Pride currently maintains Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts, with primary emphasis on Facebook and Instagram. The Coordinator will plan and create content, develop original graphics and flyers, promote events and fundraising initiatives, respond to messages and routine questions on behalf of the organization, and work with organizational leadership to share relevant updates, photos, stories, and information.

    Growth is the primary focus of this position. We are looking for someone who understands social media trends, platform algorithms, audience engagement, and what makes digital content successful.

    We do not expect a new post every single day. We do expect a consistent, active, and strategic social media presence that demonstrates measurable month-over-month growth in audience, reach, and engagement.

    Key Responsibilities
    Social Media Management & Growth
    Manage Henderson KY Pride's Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok accounts, with primary emphasis on Facebook and Instagram.
    Develop and maintain a monthly social media content calendar.
    Create, schedule, and publish consistent and engaging content.
    Develop strategies focused on increasing followers, reach, and engagement.
    Stay current on social media trends, platform algorithms, and emerging content opportunities.
    Monitor performance and adjust content strategy based on results.
    Maintain a consistent organizational voice and visual identity.
    Content Creation
    Create original social media graphics, flyers, promotional materials, Reels, short-form videos, and other digital content.
    Coordinate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to gather relevant photos, information, organizational updates, and other content.
    Transform organizational information into engaging and accessible social media content.
    Capture or coordinate photography and video content when appropriate.

    Henderson KY Pride prohibits the use of generative AI to create flyers, graphics, artwork, or other visual creative materials. The successful candidate must be able to independently create original visual content using Canva or a comparable design platform.

    Event Promotion & Fundraising
    Social media is an important tool for both community engagement and the financial sustainability of Henderson KY Pride.

    The Social Media Coordinator will:

    Promote Henderson KY Pride events and programs through strategic social media campaigns.
    Develop event graphics, announcements, countdowns, reminders, Reels, and other promotional content.
    Use social media to support fundraising campaigns and recurring giving.
    Create engaging fundraising content and calls to action.
    Highlight sponsors, donors, community partners, and organizational impact.
    Work with leadership to use social media to increase event attendance, community support, and fundraising opportunities.


    Community Engagement
    Monitor and respond to routine direct messages, comments, and questions on behalf of Henderson KY Pride.
    Communicate professionally and respectfully in a manner consistent with Henderson KY Pride's mission and values.
    Elevate sensitive questions or situations to organizational leadership when appropriate.
    Help maintain a welcoming, affirming, and engaging online community.


    Analytics & Reporting
    Monitor social media performance throughout each month.
    Prepare a monthly Social Media Analytics Report for the Board of Directors.
    Report on follower growth, reach, engagement, content performance, and other relevant metrics.
    Identify successful content and opportunities for improvement.
    Provide recommendations for the following month's social media strategy.
    Attend Henderson KY Pride's monthly Board of Directors meeting, approximately two hours per month, to provide a social media update.

    Event Attendance
    This position is primarily flexible and remote.

    Attendance at select Henderson KY Pride events in Henderson, Kentucky may occasionally be requested for photography, video, or other social media content needs. Reasonable advance notice will be provided whenever possible.

    What We're Looking For
    The ideal candidate is creative, dependable, comfortable working independently, and excited about using social media to help a growing LGBTQIA+ organization reach more people.

    Strong candidates will have:

    Experience managing social media or creating digital content for an organization, business, nonprofit, campaign, or brand.
    Strong understanding of Facebook and Instagram.
    Familiarity with TikTok and short-form video content.
    Knowledge of current social media trends, algorithms, and audience engagement strategies.
    Strong media literacy and sound judgment when communicating on behalf of an organization.
    Experience creating original graphics and digital content.
    Proficiency with Canva or comparable graphic design software.
    Strong written communication skills.
    Ability to interpret basic social media analytics and use performance data to improve future content.
    Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain a consistent content schedule.


    A college degree is not required. Previous experience in social media management, digital content creation, graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related area is strongly encouraged.

    Hours & Compensation
    This is a flexible, part-time independent contractor opportunity requiring approximately 10–20 hours per month, including attendance at the monthly Board of Directors meeting.

    Compensation starts at $500 per month and is paid as a flat monthly rate through a 1099 independent contractor agreement. This position does not include employee benefits.

    The initial contract term is six months.

    Henderson KY Pride is a small and growing nonprofit, and this is the first position of its kind within our organization. As our organization and fundraising capacity continue to grow, there may be opportunities for the hours, responsibilities, and compensation of this position to grow as well.
