• SSA Vic & Tas ECSS Showcase 2026 – Abstract Submission

Complete the form with an abstract (up to 300 words).
  • The Early Career and Student Statistician (ECSS) Showcase is the Statistical Society of Australia Victorian and Tasmanian Branch’s flagship event for early-career statisticians. Along with the Belz Lecture immediately following it forms the branch's premier event of the year. It is a valuable opportunity to share your work, strengthen your professional profile and CV, and connect with the statistical community.

The 2026 ECSS Showcase will be held in person on Friday, 20 November 2026, from 2:00–4:30 pm at the Peter Hall Building, The University of Melbourne. Afternoon tea will be provided.

We welcome submissions for both oral and poster presentations on a broad range of topics, including statistical theory, methodology, applications, statistical practice, data science, and the teaching or communication of statistics. Presentations do not need to be based on academic research: industry and government case studies, consulting projects, practical applications, and insights from professional practice are all welcome.

Abstracts must be no more than 300 words. The submission deadline is Wednesday, 7 October 2026 at 11:59 pm AEDT. Awards will be presented for outstanding oral and poster presentations.

Eligibility: The Showcase is open to Early Career and Student Statisticians: those either studying statistics or a related field, or who have graduated within the last 5 years and work in a statistics-related area. There are no age restrictions. Both SSA members and non-members are welcome to submit.
