By signing below, I confirm that:
1. Nature of the Ride
I understand that this is a non-competitive reliability ride and is not a race, time trial or formally led ride. I am responsible for riding at a speed and in a manner appropriate to my own ability, the road, weather and traffic conditions.
2. Personal Responsibility
I understand that cycling on the public highway involves inherent risks, including the risk of collision, accident, injury and damage. I voluntarily participate in the event and accept responsibility for my own actions and safety.
3. Highway Code
I will obey the Highway Code and all applicable road traffic laws and will show proper consideration to other road users, pedestrians and fellow riders.
4. Route
I understand that I am responsible for familiarising myself with the route and navigating it. Any route information, GPX files, signage or directions supplied by Darlington Cycling Club are provided for guidance only.
5. Road Conditions
I understand that the roads remain open to normal traffic and that Darlington Cycling Club cannot guarantee the condition of the highway, road surface, weather conditions or the actions of other road users.
6. Fitness and Health
I confirm that I am sufficiently fit and medically capable of undertaking the distance entered. If I become unwell or unable to continue safely, I will stop riding and seek appropriate assistance.
7. Bicycle and Equipment
I confirm that the bicycle I am using is roadworthy, properly maintained and suitable for the event. I am responsible for carrying suitable clothing, food, drink, tools, spare tubes/repair equipment and any medication I may require.
8. Cycle Helmets
I agree to wear a properly fitted and securely fastened cycle helmet complying with an appropriate recognised safety standard throughout the ride.
9. Insurance
I understand that I am responsible for considering whether I require my own personal accident, cycle or third-party liability insurance.
10. Incidents and Assistance
If I am involved in, witness or become aware of an accident or significant incident during the ride, I will report it to the event organiser as soon as reasonably practicable.
11. Other Riders
I will not ride in a manner which unnecessarily endangers, obstructs or inconveniences other participants or road users. I understand that riding within a group does not transfer responsibility for my safety to the group, other riders or the event organiser.
12. Liability
I understand that Darlington Cycling Club, its officers, members, organisers and volunteers will take reasonable steps in organising the event but cannot eliminate all of the risks associated with cycling on public roads.
I accept the normal risks inherent in participating in the ride and accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury arising from my own actions or failure to comply with this declaration.
Nothing in this declaration is intended to exclude or restrict any liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
