Prior to completing the online grant application form, applicants are encouraged to review and prepare answers in advance of submitting them into the online form. Once the application is started, it cannot be partially completed, saved, and returned to later.

Applications MUST be submitted through the online form and WILL NOT be accepted by email. Any and all communications regarding grants must go to grants@comoxvalleyrd.ca to ensure the message reaches the appropriate department.

5. Grant Streams

At the start of the application process, your organization must select the grant stream you wish to apply for. Based on the selected stream, the online application will automatically display the relevant questions specific to that stream. Below, you will find a breakdown of the questions for each grant stream. Please respond only to the questions associated with the stream your organization has chosen.
a. Rural Community Grants
i. Describe how the project or event supports social, economic, environmental, or educational needs within the Comox Valley, and how it will benefit the rural community or its residents.
ii. Describe how the project/event will serve a large number of people, and who the target audience is.
iii. Describe how the project/event is unique and does not compete with or duplicate the services of another provider.
iv. Describe how the project/event supports or complements other rural community initiatives.
v. Describe how your organization is collaborating with others to provide this project/event.
vi. For capital projects, describe your plan to sustain this investment over time (e.g., maintenance & replacement costs).
b. Recreation Grants
i. Describe how the project or event supports recreation activities in the Comox Valley, either through the delivery of a program, event, and/or capital infrastructure.
ii. Describe how the project/event supports active lifestyles, health, and wellness.
iii. Describe how the project/event will serve a large number of people, and who the target audience is.
iv. Describe how the project/event is unique and does not compete with or duplicate the services of another provider.
v. Describe how your organization is collaborating with others to provide this project/event.
vi. For capital projects, describe your plan to sustain this investment over time (e.g., maintenance & replacement costs).

Supports physical, mental, social and emotional community and individual wellness throughout the Comox Valley Regional District2. Builds and maintains excellent and sustainable sport and recreation facilities that balances location with financial responsibility and reduces greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change.3. Delivers a wide variety of innovative and responsive sport and recreation programs and services that meet community needs and promote structured and unstructured activities.4. Ensures that recreation programs, services and facilities are accessible and reduce barriers to participate, and are welcoming and culturally appropriate, promote lifelong sport and recreation, and are inclusive and encourage a sense of belonging.5. Creates and supports partnerships with municipalities, School District 71, K’ómoks First Nation and community organizations to deliver sport and recreation programs and services that increase volunteerism and make the best use of public and community facilities and resources.
c. Arts & Culture Grants
i. Describe how the project or event will support arts or cultural activities in the Comox Valley, either through the delivery of a program, event, or capital infrastructure.
ii. Describe how the project/event contributes to the community identity or cultural vibrancy through sharing of stories, language, traditions, art or culture through displays, performances, events, etc.
iii. Describe how the project/event will build connections between artists, organizations, and/or cultural groups.
iv. Describe how the project/event will serve a large number of people, and who the target audience is.
v. Describe how the project/event is unique and does not compete with or duplicate the services of another provider.
vi. For capital projects, describe your plan to sustain this investment over time (e.g., maintenance & replacement costs).

8. Final/Interim Grant Report Form
Organizations that received grant funds from the Comox Valley Regional District in the previous 18 months must complete the online final/interim report form and upload:
- the budget to actual cost reconciliation related to the grant-funded project/event (receipts not required), and
- pictures of the project/event.

9. Confirmation of Application
