On August 21, 2026, the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) posted a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the proposed transfer of a Retailer’s Class A liquor store license for Kingman Park Wine & Spirits to 2409 Benning Road NE. The proposed hours of operation and alcoholic beverage sales are from 8:00 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.
We, the undersigned DC residents, oppose the proposed transfer. Our community is already experiencing concerns involving crime, vehicle break ins, loitering, open drug use, and other activities affecting residents’ quality of life. We are concerned about the proposed addition of another liquor store and its potential impact on peace, order and quiet, pedestrian and vehicular safety, and the environment in which our children and families live.
With the planned development of the new Washington Commanders stadium and surrounding RFK campus, our community is also preparing for significant changes and increased activity in the Kingman Park area. As this development moves forward, we believe residents should have a meaningful voice in the types of businesses and services that become part of our neighborhood.
We believe our community has enough liquor stores. We want businesses, services, and resources that strengthen our neighborhood and contribute to a healthier and safer environment for our children and families.
By signing below, I am asking that the concerns of residents be considered in the review of this license transfer.
