    Not everyone is able to serve on a regular schedule, and that's okay. Many meaningful opportunities arise throughout the year to help with events, projects, hospitality, meals, administrative support, and other special needs. Selecting this option gives our ministry staff permission to contact you when those opportunities become available. Each invitation is simply an invitation, with no obligation to say yes.

  • Children's & Youth Ministry Opportunities

    The following roles are specific to Children's & Youth Ministry. Please review each role shown to you and select every role you would be willing to explore. These selections express interest and are not a final assignment.

    • Children's Formation Classroom Leader 

    • Help children explore faith through engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities. Materials and supplies are provided in advance, and sessions may include songs, crafts, prayer, Bible storytelling, play, and discussion.

      Sundays, 10:00-11:00 a.m. No minimum commitment; serving one Sunday during the year is welcome. Preparation is up to 30 minutes. An orientation, one-time Safe Church training, and background check are required.

    • Children's Formation Classroom Assistant 

    • Support the class leader and children during the lesson and activities. Help children participate, transition, and feel welcomed.

      Sundays, 10:00-11:00 a.m. No minimum commitment; serving one Sunday during the year is welcome. No preparation. An orientation, one-time Safe Church training, and background check are required.

    • Children's Ministry Hallway Assistant 

    • Welcome and direct families, monitor children going to water or restrooms, and briefly support classrooms if a leader needs to step away.

      Sundays, 10:00-11:00 a.m. No minimum commitment; serving one Sunday during the year is welcome. No preparation. Teacher orientation is optional; one-time Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • Youth Usher Captain 

    • Lead and support the youth usher team during the 9:00 a.m. Sunday service. Assign roles, help youth prepare for offertory and communion, provide cues during the service, and assist with counting the offering afterward.


      Ideally serve several Sundays throughout the year.

    • Middle School Youth Group Leader 

    • Make a difference by showing up consistently for a group of 15-20 middle school youth led by staff and clergy. Join them for dinner, lead games and activities, guide discussions, and help foster a fun, welcoming, and supportive community. You'll serve as a trusted adult presence while helping maintain healthy boundaries and community norms.

      Sunday evenings, 5:30-7:00 p.m., September-March. Ideally serve 1-2 Sundays each month. Preparation is less than 30 minutes; program information is provided one week in advance. Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • High School Youth Group Leader 

    • Be a steady, caring presence in the lives of high school students (grades 9-12) led by staff and clergy. Join youth for dinner, build meaningful relationships, lead games and activities, facilitate discussions, and help create a welcoming environment where young people can explore faith, community, and belonging.

      Sunday evenings, 6:30-8:00 p.m., September-March. Ideally serve 1-2 Sundays each month. Preparation is less than 30 minutes; program information is provided one week in advance. Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • Middle School Sunday Circle Leader 

    • Alongside staff and clergy, help lead a relaxed and welcoming Sunday morning gathering for approximately 10-12 middle school youth. Share breakfast, build relationships, check in with students, and guide a short discussion using a devotion provided in advance. This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy conversation, listening, and creating a space where young people feel known and valued.


      Sunday mornings, 10:10-11:00 a.m., September-May. Serve on a rotating team; weekly attendance is not required, but volunteers should be available most weeks when scheduled. No preparation beyond reviewing the provided devotion. Initially co-lead with church staff. Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • High School Sunday Circle Leader

Share breakfast, build relationships, check in with students, and guide a short discussion using a devotion provided in advance.     • Confirmation Leader - Track One: 9th Grade 

    • Walk alongside approximately 20-30 ninth graders led by staff and clergy as they explore faith and prepare to affirm their baptismal vows. Using discussion guides and materials provided in advance, you'll help facilitate meaningful conversations, encourage participation, and build consistent relationships with youth during this important milestone in their faith journey.

      Attend all five Sunday sessions between October 18 and December 13, 2026, 6:30-8:00 p.m., plus the required January 9, 2027 retreat from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in Richmond. Preparation is about 30 minutes per session. Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • Confirmation Leader - Track Two: 8th Grade 

    • Walk alongside approximately 20-30 eighth graders as they explore faith and prepare to affirm their baptismal vows. Using discussion guides and materials provided in advance, you'll help facilitate meaningful conversations, encourage participation, and build lasting relationships with youth during this important season of faith formation.

      Attend all five Sunday sessions between February 7 and April 11, 2027, 6:30-8:00 p.m., plus the required April 24, 2027 retreat from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in Richmond. Preparation is about 30 minutes per session. Safe Church training and a background check are required.

    • Confirmation Mentor - Track One: 9th Grade 

    • Build a supportive relationship with a young person in 9th grade throughout the confirmation process. Meet once a month (October 2026 - January 2027) for intentional conversation, share and listen to faith stories, discuss questions and doubts, pray for the youth's discernment, and support their decision about confirmation. Mentors should become familiar with the My Faith, My Life curriculum so they understand the topics being explored in class.

    • Confirmation Mentor - Track Two: 8th Grade 

    • Build a supportive relationship with a young person in 8th grade throughout the confirmation process. Meet once a month (February 2027 - April 2027) for intentional conversation, share and listen to faith stories, discuss questions and doubts, pray for the youth's discernment, and support their decision about confirmation. Mentors will be asked to become familiar with the provided My Faith, My Life curriculum so they understand the topics being explored in class.
