APPLYING FOR 2027 BURGMANN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Burgmann College provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to ANU students who will be residents at the College. Full details for future residents' financial assistance are provided on the Burgmann College website:

Scholarships are funded largely from Burgmann College's endowment monies and with the generous support of many donors. Scholarships are awarded on the recommendation of a Sub-committee of the College Council.

Applicants are selected from those who can demonstrate all three of the following categories:

a) Academic merit

b) Financial need

c) Evidence of any kind of community service contribution either at a previous
    education establishment, or with a charity organisation, a church etc

A personal contribution to the life at Burgmann is an important part of living at the College.

Scholarships are in high demand and unfortunately it is not possible to assist every applicant. Also, while an application may be made for a scholarship using the form provided, it is not possible to hold two concurrently. The Sub-committee reserves the right not to grant scholarships where it is of the view that there is insufficient merit or need. The holding of a Scholarship is subject to satisfactory academic progress, financial need and ongoing contribution to college life. Where an applicant has applied to be considered for multiple scholarships, the Sub-committee will determine the scholarship most appropriate.

All scholarships take the form of a monetary reduction in residential fees.

Burgmann College Scholarships for 2027

Scholarships are available for residents at Burgmnn College either undergraduate or postgraduate.  The criteria for the award of scholarships are based on academic merit, financial need and community service or contribution to college life which are weighted differently depending on the scholarship. In 2027 we are able to offer Scholarships of up to $15,000, with some Scholarships continuing for up to three years. Application forms contain two parts, both should be completed

         Section A - to be completed by the resident or prospective resident

         Section B - to be completed by parents or guardians
                         (or the applicant, where self-funded is applicable)

Please do not post your application to college.

Applicants not already at Burgmann College must have applied for residency at Burgmann College via the ANU Accommodation Service (see *links below) and full information must be provided regarding academic, financial and personal circumstances.

Please note a MAXIMUM of one page per subject of information. Incomplete information may lead to an application being put aside, however too much information can also be too confusing and salient points might be missed.

Burgmann College - 2027 Scholarship Application

SECTION A: - FOR COMPLETION BY RESIDENT OR PROSPECTIVE RESIDENT

Please provide these items with your application: 

• A copy of your most recent academic results (school and/or university). If you are a new resident, we require a copy of your ATAR certificate as soon as it is available. (Please do NOT send full school reports, only the ATAR certificate and a single page of overall results.)

• References from two academic referees together with their contact details. Please ensure that these do not go over one page in length.

• If not self-funded, please provide a copy of your parent’s latest Notice of Assessment (ATO) only (Please do not send the full tax return).

• If you are applying for the Harriet Nixon Scholarship you will need to also submit a one page statement "Describing your home environment in rural, regional or remote Australia".

SECTION B: REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FROM PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO SUPPORT A SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Your young adult has applied for a Scholarship at Burgmann College for 2027. See the introductory pages (pp1-2) for information on these forms of financial assistance.

Financial need is a criterion for all scholarships. To assist the College Council's Scholarships Sub-committee in its deliberations, you are requested to provide information on the financial aid you propose to give to your young adult on the form below. Both parents/guardians are to provide the information, together or separately, as appropriate.

A copy of your last Notice of Assessment (ATO) must be provided for the year ending 30 June 2026.  If the 30 June 2026 is not available 30 June 2025 may be provided.

Please do NOT upload your Tax return - simply the Notice of Assessment (ATO).

Applications cannot be considered without this information.
