• Help Support 70-day Substitute Flexibility — AB 2490 (Valencia)

  • AB 2490 (Valencia) will provide continuity of instruction by allowing substitutes to serve up to 70 days in general and special education classrooms.

The bill is going to the Governor’s desk, but despite widespread bipartisan support from the Legislature, we are still facing opposition from the California Teachers Association and others. Governor Newsom needs to hear your local stories to understand the impact of the substitute churn in your schools, and the benefits the 70 days of continuity would bring to students.

Please take a few minutes to fill out the form below, which will be converted into a letter. ACSA will then submit it to the Governor on your behalf.

If you have any questions about this proposal or form, please message Serette Kaminski, ACSA Legislative Advocate, at skaminski@acsa.org.

Thank you for your continued leadership.
