Artwork Submission Guidelines:
We welcome 2-D artwork in all mediums
Hanging Hardware
- All hanging artwork must be properly wired with secure wire attached to the top quarter of the canvas. Wire hanging required - no sawtooth hangers are allowed
- Wire must be taut and not extend above the artwork's top edge
Presentation Standards
- Edges of paintings must be clean and neatly finished (painted), or framed to gallery standards
- Artwork less than 1.5 inches deep needs to be framed. Your artwork may be rejected upon delivery at the discresion of the curator if this standard is not met
- Oil paintings must be completely dry to the touch
- All work must be professionally presented and sale-ready
- Placement of artwork is at the sole discretion of show curator, and facility management. Artists may not request that their artworks be moved to another location within the show.
Identification
- Artist name and artwork title must be clearly displayed on the back of 2D works
Submission Details
- FREE for VALA members
- $35 for non-members (you can become a member when you pay the entry fee)
- Up to 3 pieces maximum
- Exhibited works will be selected by an art review panel based on the criteria listed. Not all submitted artwork may be chosen for the exhibition.
Sales Information
- The artist is responsible for all aspects of the sale. The City of Allen nor The Visual Arts League of Allen will not receive a commission or compensation from the sale of artwork at present. Artist receives 100% of sale price.
- Work available for purchase throughout entire exhibit duration
- Any artwork sold must remain on display until the conclusion of the exhibition. Early removal may be approved by the curator, but the artist must provide a suitable replacement of similar size and content at time of removal.
Artwork Image Use
- By participating in this exhibition, artists grant VALA permission to use images of their submitted works in promotional materials, including but not limited to social media posts, flyers, catalogs, blog posts, website images and press releases.
- All artworks must be original and not infringed on copyrighted content of any other party.
Loan Agreement
Selected artists will be required to sign a loan agreement for their artworks. All loan agreements must be signed at delivery of artwork. Artists under the age of 18 must have the loan agreement signed by a parent or guardian.
STRC specific requirements
- The maximum artwork size is 60 inches x 60 inches.
- Artists’ statement regarding artwork is highly encouraged.
- Art displayed within the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center must be appropriate to a family friendly, public environment – including children.
Load-in and Load-out requirements
Artwork must be delivered and picked up according to the load-in and load-out schedule provided. Please adhere to your assigned times, as we are unable to accommodate exceptions.

Artwork not delivered during the designated load-in window will not be displayed in the show.

Artwork remaining after the load-out deadline will be transported to Blue House Too for storage and subject to a $15/day storage fee.

If you are unable to deliver or retrieve your artwork personally, please arrange for a representative to do so on your behalf.
