    An Introduction to Drawing. No prior experience is required!

  • Workshop Description

  • Join Fairbanks Arts for an engaging, hands-on drawing workshop led by artist Amy Noon.

    This three-hour session begins in the Blue Room of the Centennial Building before moving into the gallery, where participants will gather fresh inspiration from the surrounding artwork. Designed for adults (18+) and beginners eager to build confidence in drawing as a foundation for creative expression, this immersive experience keeps you fully engaged from start to finish. You will start with continuous line warm-up exercises—training your eye to draw what you truly see without lifting your pencil—followed by supportive group reflections. From there, you will embark on focused line-drawing explorations throughout the gallery and building grounds, culminating in a technique session on using color to define dynamic positive and negative space.

    Note: Each date offers the same complete workshop experience; participants only need to register for one session.

    Saturday, September 12: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

     

    Location: Blue Room on the 3rd. floor of the Centennial Center for the Arts in Pioneer Park. Accesible by stairs from either entrance or by elevator (located in the north entrance of the building).

    Optional Driving/Parking Access: Vehicles can enter through the Moore St. gate and park near the building.

  • Each participant will receive the following to use at the workshop then take home:

     

    • 9" x 12" Strathmore sketchbook
    • Assortment of graphite drawing pencils
    • Metal pencil sharpener
    • Starter set of artist quality colored pencils
    • Drawing board with rubber band
