  • Fencing Western Australia recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to fencing in Western Australia through volunteering, service and refereeing.

    Nominations are now invited for the following 2026 Fencing WA Awards:

    • Volunteer of the Year
    • Award of Merit – Service
    • Referee of the Year
    • Emerging Referee of the Year

    Nominations should provide sufficient information and examples to assist the Fencing WA Awards Committee in considering the nominee against the relevant award criteria.

    Award Year: For Volunteer of the Year, Referee of the Year and Emerging Referee of the Year, the relevant Award Year is 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026.

    Nominations close: 31 October 2026.

    All nominees must be free from any integrity matters at the time of nomination and are expected to uphold the behaviours and values of Fencing WA.

  • This award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution as a volunteer to Fencing WA during the relevant Award Year.

    Consider the nominee's contribution across events, projects or activities; consistency and reliability; teamwork and community engagement; leadership or mentoring; initiative; impact; and alignment with Fencing WA's values.

  • Section 5 - Award of Merit - Service

  • Award of Merit – Service

    This award recognises individuals who have made a significant and sustained contribution to Fencing WA through long-term, consistent service.

    Nominees must have contributed to Fencing WA for a minimum of six years. Service may include roles such as event or general volunteer, contributor to a Fencing WA project or initiative, State Team Coach, referee, or Board, Committee or Working Group member.

  • Referee of the Year

    The Referee of the Year Award recognises a referee who has demonstrated outstanding performance, leadership and commitment during the relevant Fencing WA Award Year.

    Nominees must have been active at Fencing WA state-level competitions or higher and should demonstrate technical competence, consistency and fairness, professionalism and integrity, commitment, leadership or mentoring, contribution to referee development and alignment with Fencing WA's values.

  • Section 7 - Emerging Referee of the Year

  • Emerging Referee of the Year

    This award recognises an up-and-coming referee who has recently begun officiating at Fencing WA competitions and has demonstrated strong promise, commitment and positive engagement during the early stages of their refereeing development.

    Nominees must be within their first or second year of refereeing at Fencing WA state-level competitions.
