Monica Moreno is an interdisciplinary artist, teaching artist, end-of-life doula, and legacy project facilitator based in Los Angeles. Her practice explores symbolism, ritual, and the sacredness of both the monumental and the everyday. Through metal smithing, sculpture, installation, sound, performance, and movement, she investigates the connection between our physical and inner worlds, and the ways we use objects, gestures, rituals, and creative acts—sometimes without realizing it—to express, remember, connect, and make meaning.
For more than a decade, Monica has facilitated creative experiences for diverse communities, inviting people to explore their own stories through making. After her father's death in 2021, creating memorial artwork from his belongings became an important part of her own grieving process and inspired her to expand her practice into end-of-life care. She is trained through INELDA and Sacred Crossings Institute for Conscious Dying, certified through NEDA, and works in a funeral home alongside her art and legacy practice.
