    The Archimedes Online Challenge (Qualifying Stage)

    Date: Sunday, 29th November 2026

    Online Start Times by Key Stage

    Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6): Starts 9:30am sharp
    Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9): Starts 10:30am sharp
    Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11): Starts 11:30am sharp
    Key Stage 5 (Years 12–13): Starts 11:30am sharp

    Format

    • This Challenge is conducted fully online. Students may participate from home or any suitable environment using a laptop, tablet or desktop computer with a stable internet connection.
    • Paper: 25 multiple-choice problem-solving questions
    • Duration: 55 minutes

    Recognition

    All participants will receive a Distinguished Archimedes e-Certificate, awarded at one of the following levels:

    • Distinction
    • Merit
    • Participation

    Progression to Final Stage

    High-achieving students will be invited to advance to the UK Schools National Final Competition 2026/27.

  • Declaration and Terms of Participation

  • Please read the following declarations carefully:

    • Competition Entry ID: Upon successful submission, your child’s Competition Entry ID will be displayed on the confirmation screen and included in the automated confirmation email sent to your registered email address. Please keep this ID, as it must be entered correctly on the challenge paper. We use the Competition Entry ID to identify the participant’s paper and results.
    • Competition Link & Instructions: The Challenge link and instructions will be emailed at least five days before the event. Please check your inbox and spam or junk folders. If you have not received them two days before the event, please contact us immediately at info@archimedesawards.com
    • Results: Decisions regarding certificate levels (Distinction, Merit or Participation) and the Archimedes Awards’ academic decisions are final.
    • Attendance & Refunds:This is a strictly timed online event. Participants must be online and ready to begin at their allocated start time. Fees are non-refundable. The Archimedes Awards is not responsible for missed sessions caused by late arrival or local technical difficulties. If an emergency prevents participation, please contact us on the day of the competition to request special consideration. Any rescheduling is at the discretion of The Archimedes Awards and may require supporting evidence.
    • Data Privacy (GDPR): The information provided is used to administer the competition and, where consent has been given, to recognise and celebrate participants’ achievements. Personal data is handled securely in accordance with UK GDPR.
