Closet to Community: NPAC VP Service Project
Welcome to Closet to Community, my 2026–2027 National Pre-Alumni Council Vice President Service Project!As a senior Biology major with minors in Chemistry and Health at Claflin University, and as someone who has personally experienced the foster care system, this initiative is especially meaningful to me. Through Closet to Community, the National Pre-Alumni Council (NPAC) invites all member institutions to come together for a clothing drive focused on supporting foster youth and underserved youth in communities across our member institutions.The clothing drive will take place from September 15, 2026, through February 5, 2027. During this time, participating institutions are encouraged to host a clothing drive on their campuses and collect new or gently worn clothing items. Accepted donations may include T-shirts and tops, pants, jackets, sweaters, shoes, and children's clothing.After collecting donations, institutions are encouraged to donate the items to a local Department of Social Services (DSS), Child Protective Services (CPS), foster care agency, or community nonprofit organization that serves youth. Participating institutions should also take photos throughout the collection and donation process to help highlight the impact of their service efforts.To officially report your institution's participation, please complete the designated submission form. The goal is to capture the overall impact of each institution's contribution.Together, we can turn clothing sitting in our closets into meaningful resources for young people in our communities.
