1. Working Media Only
Credentials are issued only to legitimate working news media with a verifiable editorial assignment. The Fair Office has sole discretion to determine eligibility. Previous credentialing does not guarantee current approval.
2. Application Is Not Approval
Do not assume credentials have been granted until written approval is issued by the Navajo Nation Fair Office or its authorized media representative. Incomplete applications or applications that cannot be verified may be denied.
3. Individual and Nontransferable
Each credential is issued to one person and may not be transferred, loaned, duplicated, sold, or shared. Credentials must be worn and visible and must be presented with government-issued photo identification when requested. Lost or stolen credentials must be reported immediately.
4. Credential Does Not Provide Unlimited Access
A media credential does not automatically authorize backstage, dressing room, arena floor, rodeo chute, livestock holding, production, VIP, emergency, law enforcement, parade staging, private Tribal/government, vendor-only, or other restricted access. Special access may require separate written approval, an escort, or an additional credential.
5. Safety and Instructions
Media must follow all instructions from Fair officials, security, law enforcement, event producers, arena personnel, fire/emergency personnel, and authorized staff. Media may be moved or removed from an area whenever required for safety, security, operations, crowd control, cultural considerations, or event production.
6. Photography, Recording and Rights
Credential approval authorizes legitimate editorial news gathering only. It does not grant commercial, advertising, merchandising, licensing, promotional, rebroadcast, or sponsorship rights. Performances, concerts, rodeos, competitions, cultural activities, and third-party productions may impose additional restrictions. Livestreaming or full-event recording is prohibited unless separately authorized in writing.
7. Drones and Unmanned Aircraft
A media credential is not authorization to operate a drone or unmanned aircraft over or near the Fairgrounds. Any drone activity requires separate written authorization and compliance with all applicable Navajo Nation and federal requirements. Unauthorized drone activity may result in credential revocation and removal from the Fairgrounds.
8. Professional and Cultural Conduct
Media must conduct themselves respectfully and professionally and must honor cultural or ceremonial restrictions, requests not to photograph or record certain activities, privacy expectations, and access limitations. A media credential does not override Navajo cultural protocols, privacy rights, restricted-area rules, or applicable law.
9. Minors, Interviews and Private Areas
Media are responsible for complying with applicable requirements when interviewing, photographing, or recording minors. Credentialing does not guarantee access to Tribal leadership, performers, contestants, youth programs, private functions, or interview subjects. Interviews requiring special access must be coordinated separately.
10. Revocation
Credentials may be suspended or revoked for unsafe conduct, interference with Fair operations, unauthorized restricted-area entry, refusal to follow instructions, harassment, misrepresentation, credential sharing, commercial or personal misuse, or violation of photography, cultural, production, or access restrictions. Revocation may result in removal from the Fairgrounds and denial of future applications.
11. Parking, Guests and Complimentary Access
Media credentials do not automatically include parking, reserved seating, guest admission, companion passes, production vehicle access, or access to separately ticketed or controlled areas unless specifically approved.
12. Commercial or Promotional Filming
Commercial filming, advertising, branded content, promotional shoots, sponsor activations, entertainment productions, and non-editorial projects require separate authorization and may require a location, production, or licensing agreement. A press pass cannot be used as a substitute for such approval.
