Position Overview
Muslim Food Bank & Community Services Society is seeking an experienced Content Writer to develop clear, engaging, and persuasive content across our fundraising, digital marketing, and community communications.
The Content Writer will help communicate the impact of MFBCS programs to donors, clients, volunteers, partners, and the wider community while maintaining a respectful, faith-sensitive, and dignity-focused brand voice.
You will work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager and program teams to produce accurate, on-brand content designed around organizational and campaign goals.

The Role
As Content Writer, you will help shape the voice behind MFBCS campaigns, fundraising appeals, impact stories, and everyday communications.
Your work will range from seasonal fundraising emails and donation pages to social media content, blogs, newsletters, advertisements, and community stories.
Every piece should balance warmth, clarity, persuasion, accuracy, and respect for the dignity of the individuals and communities featured.
Duties & Responsibilities
Content & Copywriting
- Write and edit fundraising appeals, email campaigns, social media content, website pages, blog articles, newsletters, landing pages, and advertising copy.
- Develop clear calls-to-action and donor communications for seasonal campaigns, including Ramadan, Zakat, Sadaqah, Qurbani, winter appeals, and year-end giving.
- Adapt messaging and tone for donors, clients, volunteers, community members, and organizational partners.
- Proofread and fact-check content for accuracy, grammar, tone, and cultural sensitivity before publication.
Impact Stories & Brand Voice
- Develop impact stories and testimonials from clients, volunteers, and program staff.
- Ensure stories are collected and shared ethically and with appropriate consent.
- Maintain a consistent MFBCS brand voice across communication channels.
- Ensure content remains respectful, faith-sensitive, and centred on the dignity of the people MFBCS serves.
Digital Marketing & Fundraising Content
- Develop SEO-aware website content to support organic search visibility.
- Write conversion-focused content for fundraising landing pages, donation pages, and paid advertising campaigns.
- Collaborate with designers and the marketing team to pair written content with campaign visuals, social posts, flyers, and other assets.
- Track content performance using metrics such as email open rates, click-through rates, engagement, and conversions.
- Refine messaging based on campaign and content performance.
Content Planning & Reporting
- Maintain a content calendar aligned with MFBCS campaigns, programs, fundraising priorities, and key Islamic dates.
- Work with program teams to gather accurate information for campaigns and community communications.
- Assist with grant and report writing by developing clear, evidence-based narratives from program data.
- Manage multiple writing assignments and meet agreed deadlines.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Two or more years of professional content writing or copywriting experience within a nonprofit, agency, or in-house environment.
- Excellent written English with strong grammar, clarity, tone, and persuasive writing skills.
- A portfolio or writing samples covering at least two content formats, such as email, social media, blogs, website content, or fundraising copy.
- Ability to adapt writing style and messaging for different audiences.
- Ability to manage several assignments and work within deadlines.
- Strong cultural sensitivity when communicating about vulnerable individuals and communities.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong content writing, copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Clear and persuasive written communication.

- Familiarity with Muslim communities and Islamic giving concepts, including Zakat and Sadaqah.
- Working knowledge of SEO principles and platforms such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Experience with social media scheduling and publishing tools.
- Understanding of fundraising principles and donor psychology.
