    Thank you for your interest in sponsoring a child through The Happy Birthday Program! 🎈

  • Birthday sponsors help make a child's celebration special by providing essentials for a birthday celebration along with thoughtfully selected gifts based on the child's interests, needs and preferences.

    Sponsors are asked to provide, at mimimum, birthday cake supplies, decorations and one gift from each of our four gift categories: WANT, NEED, READ & WEAR (4 total gifts).

    By completing this form, you are letting us know that you would like to be matched with a child when a suitable sponsorship opportunity becomes available. Submitting this form does not guarantee an immediate match, as sponsorship opportunities depend on the applications and needs of families currently participating in the program.

  • Sponsorship Preferences

    We'll use this information below to help match you with an appropriate sponsorship opportunity. Preferences will be considered whenever possible but cannot be guaranteed.
  • Are there any age groups you would prefer to sponsor?*
  • Would you be comfortable sponsoring siblings from the same household?*
  • Would you be open to sponsoring a child who has a higher-value item on their birthday wish list?*

  • Some children may request a higher-value item as their WANT or NEED gift. This information simply helps us make appropriate matches.

  • Sponsor Commitment

    Birthday sponsors are responsible for providing the core items that make up a child's birthday package.

  • If you are matched with a child, you will receive non-identifying information about their age, interests, preferences, sizes and birthday wishes to help you shop specifically for them.

     

    Sponsors are asked to provide new, unused items and at a minimum, the following:

    Cake Supplies

    Cake mix, frosting, candles and any other basic supplies needed to prepare the child's birthday cake.

    Birthday Decorations

    A small selection of decorations based on the child's requested theme or interests, such as balloons, birthday banner, napkins, cups, plates and cutlery.

    WANT

    Something the child would be excited to receive just for fun.

    NEED

    Something practical or useful that the child currently needs.

    READ

    A book or other age-appropriate reading item selected with the child's interests and preferences in mind.

    WEAR

    A new clothing, footwear or wearable item in the child's provided size.

     

    You are welcome to provide additional gifts or birthday items if you wish, but additional items are never required. Our priority is ensuring that every sponsored child receives the birthday items above.

    Please note that The Happy Birthday Program may occasionally add additonal items to a child's birthday package from our general donation inventory or other program resources. These additions are based on available items and opportunities to provide extras that may be a good fit for your sponsored child. They are not a reflection of the sponsor's contribution or an indication that the sponsorship was incomplete. We are incredibly grateful for the care and generosity our sponsors put into making each child's birthday special.

     

    Sponsors will generally have approximately three weeks to shop for and provide their child's birthday items. Your specific deadline will be included when you receive your sponsorship match and will allow The Happy Birthday Program time to review, organize and prepare the birthday package before it is provided to the family. 

    If you accept a sponsorship and later realise you may not be able to meet the provided deadline, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make alternate arrangements.
