Purpose. The Desert of Indiana Disaster Relief Assistance Program provides financial or material support to eligible organizations, community citizens, and members of Desert of Indiana affected by a declared disaster or emergency. Modeled on the disaster-relief structure provided with this request, the program focuses on documented need, membership verification if applicable, eligible disaster-related expenses, and committee review.

Important: Assistance is subject to available Desert of Indiana disaster-relief funds, verification of eligibility, supporting documentation, and approval by the Desert of Indiana Disaster Relief Committee. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award. The Disaster assistance support will not exceed $500.00 per household.

Applications will not be accepted after September 30, 2026.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY
- The applicant must be one of the following: an Organization, a Community Citizen, or a Noble or Daughter in good standing within the Desert of Indiana (if this applies), and must have been affected by the declared disaster or emergency.
- Loss or hardship is directly related to a declared disaster or officially recognized disaster-relief event.
GENERALLY INELIGIBLE EXPENSES
- Damage to a secondary or vacation residence.
- Rental or investment property operated for gain.
- General debt reduction unrelated to the disaster.
- Capital improvements or expenses unrelated to immediate disaster recovery.
- Medical/ Dental Bills

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION NO EXCEPTIONS
- The request must provide a detailed description of the disaster-related need and documentation supporting the disaster-related loss or need, such as receipts, estimates, invoices, utility statements, insurance documents, or other applicable records.
- Verification that the applicant is a member of the Jurisdiction of Indiana in good standing if applicable.
- Any additional documentation requested by the Desert of Indiana Disaster Relief Committee.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
- The request must provide a detailed description of the disaster-related need and documentation supporting the disaster-related loss or need, such as receipts, estimates, invoices, utility statements, and/or insurance documentation.
- If applicable, Membership standing must be verified by the applicant's Temple.
- Only one award should ordinarily be approved per household for the same disaster.
- The Desert of Indiana Disaster Relief Committee will review the request and provide notice of its determination.
- Applications should be submitted as soon as reasonably possible following the disaster and within any deadline established for the specific relief initiative.
- Please allow 5-7 days for the Committte to review and provide a determination.
IMPORTANT DISASTER RELIEF INFORMATION
- Funds or assistance awarded must be used for approved eligible disaster-related expenses only.
- Disaster-relief assistance is not a loan and is not required to be repaid unless obtained through misrepresentation or used contrary to the terms of the award.
- Applicants are responsible for determining any personal tax consequences of assistance received.
- An award may not be reassigned or transferred to another person without written authorization.
- All awards are subject to available funds and final approval under Desert of Indiana procedures.
