The Jacob’s Ladder Scholarship Program exists to encourage student involvement, responsibility, character development, and community engagement while helping families with the cost of extracurricular activities.
Eligible Jacob’s Ladder Sr. students may qualify to receive up to $500 total toward approved extracurricular activities, including sports, band, cheer, academic clubs, or other approved school-related activities.
SCHOLARSHIP STRUCTURE:
Participation Scholarship
-Students who qualify based on financial need and active participation in Jacob’s Ladder may receive: $250 Participation Scholarship
Participation includes regular involvement in Jacob’s Ladder meetings, activities, camps, mentoring opportunities, and maintaining a positive attitude and respectful behavior.
Earn-It Scholarship
Students may earn an additional: $250 Earn-It Scholarship
The Earn-It Scholarship is based on community service hours completed during the current school year.
Service hours are valued at $10 per hour
Students must complete 25 community service hours to earn the full additional scholarship amount
Community service hours may be completed through:
Graces of Gurley
The student’s local church
The student’s extracurricular activity or school organization (this does not include playing sports or in the band)
Other approved nonprofit or community service opportunities
All service hours must be supervised and signed by an adult leader, coach, teacher, pastor, or organization representative.
Student Agreement
By signing below, the student agrees to:
Complete the agreed-upon community service hours by the end of the current school year. Maintain active participation in Jacob’s Ladder. Conduct themselves respectfully and responsibly while serving. Submit completed service hour logs with required signatures. Agree to complete the sport or activity. If they quit, they will owe Graces of Gurley the $250 back.
Failure to complete the required service hours by the end of the school year may result in loss of eligibility for future Jacob’s Ladder scholarships until hours are completed
Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the approved organization.
