SCAPE is a landscape architecture and urban design practice headquartered in New York with offices in New Orleans and San Francisco. We design and advocate for the ecologically restorative and socially engaged landscapes, urban environments, and natural infrastructure of the future. 
 
Our staff of over 90 individuals includes landscape architects, urban planners, architects, ecological designers, horticulturists, and community engagement professionals—and a deep bench of technical expertise related to construction, regulation, and agency review. We work across disciplines, collaborating with architects, developers, engineers, agencies, institutions, foundations, and grassroots environmental justice and community groups on projects across all scales. We believe that creativity doesn’t end with design; it extends through every facet of the practice from initial concepts, through detail development, spec writing, project management, mentorship, professional development, and beyond. ABOUT THE ROLE 

SCAPE is currently seeking a landscape designer or landscape architect to join our team in San Francisco and support our built-work projects. Ideal candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in the landscape architecture field.

Candidates should have a range of skills and abilities to support design, technical documentation and construction administration, and be well-versed and enthusiastic about construction phase services. All candidates should be highly organized and eager to work in a collaborative, energetic environment on projects through all stages of design. They should be an excellent problem-solver, detail-oriented, and possess good communication skills.

LOCATION 
This position is based in our San Francisco studio. Please note that SCAPE highly values in-person collaboration and currently operates on a 3-days in-person and 2-days flex remote policy. This policy is subject to change. SCAPE has projects in construction around the country, and some travel will be expected.

COMPENSATION 
Salary for this role is commensurate with experience and ranges from $80,000-$90,000 with highly competitive benefits, including comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 

• A successful candidate will possess: 
• Undergraduate or master's degree in landscape architecture (or related field) from an accredited University program.   
• 3-5 years of professional experience in landscape architecture. 
• Experience working on documentation sets and on the technical development of complex and unique projects.    
• Demonstrated experience supporting projects in documentation and construction (e.g. bid reviews, site visits, field reports, RFI responses, submittal reviews, contractor coordination, tree tagging, material selection, etc.) 
• Experience through all phases of design from concept through construction, including required agency reviews, bidding, and construction observation.   
• Comfort working on multi-disciplinary external teams with extensive coordination between SCAPE, consultant teams and complex client groups.    
• Collaborative disposition and analytical mindset with high standards for design excellence during construction.   
• Strong communication and presentation skills for internal collaboration, consultant coordination, and client relationships.      
• Landscape architectural Registration in the State of CA is a plus.    
• High level of proficiency in computer programs including AutoCAD, the Adobe Suite, and the Microsoft Suite. 
• Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Lumion, GIS, and/or other three-dimensional modeling and visualization software is a plus.
