The City of West Hollywood seeks proposals from qualified consultants to produce a mural festival in the fall of 2027. A total of eight new murals, subject to available wall space, will be installed on exterior private-property walls and interior and exterior walls at city facilities. All muralists will be selected from the City’s WeHo Muralist Roster.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The West Hollywood Mural Program includes Art on Construction Fences, Commercial Business Murals, and the WeHo Muralist Roster. Many of the existing murals in the City are hosted on walls of private property owners. Festival sites will be identified with the consultant.
This opportunity is a component of the City’s Creative Plan, which includes diverse art activations that uplift and celebrate the arts community in the lead up to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Muralists selected to participate in the festival will be invited to propose artwork designs inspired by the Creative Plan’s theme Inventing Traditions. More information: go.weho.org/creativeplan.
If external partners, including but not limited to consulate offices or cultural institutions, elect to sponsor mural installations, the Producer will be expected to provide coordination and integration of these projects within the overall festival schedule and production plan.
FESTIVAL GOALS
The festival is intended primarily as a public-facing mural production and celebration. Murals will remain on exhibit through the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The festival could take place over one or multiple days. Proposals may include complementary programming such as artists talks, tours, demonstrations, performances, or community activities, but such programming is not required unless otherwise approved by the City.
