In order to provide a positive, healthy, safe experience at the youth group, all participants are expected to adhere to the rules listed below. This list is not necessarily exhaustive, and participants are expected to adhere to any additional instructions given by adult leaders.
Minor offenses will be corrected by adult leaders. Repeated minor offenses may warrant a meeting with parents to discuss appropriate plan of action before the teen can return to youth group. Continuous minor offenses or a major offense could result in dismissal from youth group.
All participants agree to display RESPECT…
Respect for each other.
- Clean, positive language (no swearing, name calling or negative language)
- Maintain appropriate physical boundaries.
- At all youth ministry events and activities, the primary focus is on our relationship with God as our Father, and our relationship with each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. All interactions should reflect a sibling relationship, regardless of relationship status. Long hugs, kissing, hand holding, cuddling, etc., are not permitted at any point to, from, or during youth group activity.
Respect for adult leaders
- obedient to their instructions and corrections.
- Silence while they are speaking
Respect for teen leaders
- Silence while they are speaking (presentations, directions, announcements, etc.)
Respect for Property
- Clean up any messes that are made.
- Restore order to spaces.
- Avoid areas adult chaperones deem “out of bounds.”
All participants agree to abide by the following guidelines:
Honoring supervised meeting space.
- Teens should not leave our meeting space without permission at any time.
- Adult leaders must always be informed if there is a need to leave the meeting space (bathroom, early dismissal, etc.)
- Early dismissal will not occur without written or verbal permission from a parent.
- When youth group concludes, teens should go directly to the car that will be taking them home.
- If a ride is not present as dismissal time, teens must wait in our meeting area until a ride is secured.
Modest Dress code
- Modest clothing must be worn - no undergarments or bras may be visible.
- Shirts must be worn at all times.
- No article of clothing may contain language, messages, images, or sentiments that are immoral, offensive, or misaligned with Catholic Church teaching.
- Ladies bottoms should hit at least mid thigh.
- Low cut and mid drift shirts are not permitted.
Confidentiality in small groups
- We strive to create a safe space at youth group for teens to share their hearts, and in order to maintain an atmosphere of trust, we have a general guideline that what is shared in small group should not be discussed outside of the small group space in order to respect the privacy of the teens.
- The only exception applies to adult leaders only: disclosure of danger, harm, neglect or abuse. In these cases, the adult leaders will respond as appropriate to maintain safety for anyone involved.
Prohibited Items
- drugs, alcohol, or tobacco/tobacco products/vaping, weapons.
- Electronics including but not limited to cell phones*, ipads, earbuds, airpods,etc., are not permitted during youth group activities.
- *Cell phones may be brought to youth group, but must be put away upon arrival.
- *If a teen needs to use a cell phone to contact a parent, he or she should let an adult leader know before doing so.
