What is the College Leadership Workshop?
The College Leadership Workshop (CLW) is an annual event hosted by Rice's Vietnamese Student Association designed to empower high school students with the knowledge, support, and resources to apply to college. This event is led by student volunteers from Rice University, UH, and various colleges around Houston who are eager to share their insights on college life, academics, and their personal academic process. Our goal is to help high school students navigate through the application process, no matter where they want to attend college.
What will we be doing?
- Workshops covering a variety of topics, from tackling essays and extracurricular activities, to applying for financial aid and choosing the right college.
- Submit your essays for the opportunity to receive feedback from college students!
- Get a glimpse of Rice college life and dispel some common myths and fears about college.
- Hear from two keynote speakers: Dayana Houston, Bottom Line Access Advisor, and Reine Lucas, Bottom Line Director of Program, who relentlessly work to assist FGLI students with their college process.
Who can come?
CLW is open to all students of any background and ANY grade level. There will also be Vietnamese-speaking college students available to answer any questions for native Vietnamese speakers. We had a record breaking 450+ participants previously. Everyone is encouraged to attend!
Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend! There will be two workshops specifically aimed for parents. Parents & guardians must submit a separate registration form.
