Legal Adoption Terms & Conditions
1. Humane Care & Indoor Housing: The Adopter agrees to keep the cat as an indoor household pet and provide adequate food, clean water, shelter, interactive enrichment, and humane treatment at all times.
2. Strict No-Declaw Agreement: The Adopter agrees NEVER to declaw the cat (onychectomy). Declaving is a painful surgical amputation that leads to lifelong behavioral and physical problems. Soft paws, scratching posts, and routine nail trims must be used instead.
3. Spay / Neuter & Sterilization Compliance: If the cat is adopted under an unaltered status (Foster-to-Adopt window), the Adopter agrees to present the cat for spay/neuter surgery on or before the agreed scheduled date at the Rescue's designated clinic. Legal ownership transfers only upon verified completion of surgery.
4. Veterinary & Medical Care: The Adopter agrees to maintain routine veterinary care, including annual wellness exams, core vaccinations (FVRCP, Rabies), and immediate medical attention if the cat becomes sick or injured.
5. No Transfer or Abandonment: The Adopter shall not sell, give away, surrender to a municipal shelter, or abandon the cat. If the Adopter can no longer keep the cat, the Adopter MUST contact Saving Grace Rescue LBK. The Rescue retains first right of refusal to take the cat back into rescue.
6. Rescue Right of Inspection & Repossession: Saving Grace Rescue LBK reserves the right to check on the welfare of the cat. If conditions of this contract are breached or the cat is subjected to neglect or cruelty, the Rescue reserves the right to immediately repossess the animal.
