ACTISA requests that parents/guardians/families of all ACTISA Member entrants assist with the success of this competition by indicating their availability below for at least some of the time.
For our families who are new to figure skating or families and senior skaters who are unsure of what the roles involve, they are all very easy and make a big contribution to making the event successful.
Skate marshal - checks that each skater is marked off for their category, ensures skaters have their skate guards and jackets removed and enter the ice arena safely. This role ensures no spectators or coaches are at barrier side during the skaters performance.
Time keeping - we ensure the skater skates within the given time frame of their category. The stopwatch is clicked to start on the skaters first move and clicked to stop on the skaters last move.
Set up and pack up - assist with set up and pack up of registration table, judges area, seating allocation and catering.
Announcing - reading pre-constructed notes over the intercom to introduce the event and announce skating warmup groups and skaters.
Music Co-ordination - play the skaters music (which is intuitively organised) once the skater is in position and ready to start their performance. Adjust music volume if necessary. Assist announcer with timing warmups.
Our seasoned voluteers are more than happy to show new starters the ropes and help you get onboard.
Our skaters rely solely on volunteers to prepare and actively assist on the day of the event.
Volunteers are granted free entry to the rink during the sessions they are participating (a list of volunteers for each session will be provided to the rink manager).
Any offer of assistance is encouraged and welcome.
