• VLPA Intake Form

  • Thank you for your interest in assistance through the Arts + Business Council's Volunteer Lawyers and Professionals for the Arts (VLPA) program. We provide pro bono legal and professional services to income-qualified artists, emerging arts nonprofit organizations, and creative businesses in Tennessee, including:
    • Drafting and reviewing contracts
    • Protecting your work with copyright and trademark
    • Resolving arts-related disputes
    • Nonprofit formation
    • Accounting/Finance education
    • Marketing education
    • HR/Personnel

    Eligibility requirements for clients to access VLPA services include the following:

    • Issue must be arts-related;
    • Client must be a current resident of Tennessee;
    • To access pro bono services, artists and arts organizations must be income qualified;
    • Must be or become a member of the Arts + Business Council.

  • Income Qualification

    You or your organization must meet certain income requirements to qualify for pro bono (free) services. Because VLPA is interested in assisting artists of all income levels, if you do not qualify based on income we may offer a paid referral option or other materials to point you in the right direction.
  • For individuals, your adjusted gross household income is the total amount you are paid before any withholdings or deductions and dependent on the number of persons and dependents in your household.

    If you are seeking services as a for profit business entity with multiple members, such as an LLC, you must submit adjusted gross household income for each member. Each member must meet the income threshold in order to qualify.

    If you are seeking assistance to START an arts nonprofit organization, please submit your adjusted gross household income.

    If you are seeking services as an existing arts nonprofit organization, your arts nonprofit organization must submit an annual operating budget in order to qualify.

    Those who do not qualify for pro bono legal services may qualify to use our referral program to receive legal services from our member attorneys at a full or possible reduced fee.

    Please list all individuals and companies involved in any way with your matter or legal issue. Provide the names of every person and/or company involved. If your issue relates to a business relationship, such as a partnership, contract, list all individuals and companies with any interest or involvement in that relationship. Note: In the event we receive requests for assistance from adverse parties in your matter, In these situations, we will not disclose that adverse applicants have applied to us for legal help.   • To be eligible for assistance through the VLPA one must must be or become a member of the Arts + Business Council. Memberships begin at $30 per year for individuals and $50 per year for nonprofit arts organizations.*
