  • Wintertide

    Open Call
Exhibition dates: November 7 – December 19, 2026, ARTSPLACE Main Gallery.

    Deadline October 18, 2026

As the days grow shorter, we invite artists to step into Wintertide.

We’re looking for work that finds something curious in winter: folklore, fairytales, old traditions, strange creatures, magic, myth, memory, landscape, darkness and light, dreams, rituals, ghosts, whimsy and the stories we tell when the nights are long.

All media are welcome. We invite submissions of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, mixed media, installation, digital and new media, writing, as well as short film, video and performance-based work.

Bring us your winter wonders, oddities, fables, folk tales, fantastical creatures, curious objects and peculiar stories. Make something up. Reimagine something old.

    Who can apply
Wintertide is open to emerging and professional artists in any discipline.

    Submissions
    There is no submission fee.

Artists may submit more than one work for consideration. The gallery will curate the exhibition and reserves the right to accept or decline individual submissions; submitting multiple works does not guarantee that works will be selected.

Artists are responsible for ensuring that submitted work is ready for exhibition with the appropriate hardware and, where applicable, for providing any necessary installation instructions or technical requirements/specialised equipment.

    Sales
Works may be offered for sale during the exhibition.

Sales will be divided 70% to the artist / 30% to ARTSPLACE. We do not charge HST - HST will be paid to the artist on their 70% of sales (for HST registered artists).

    Exhibition

Wintertide will be on view at ARTSPLACE from November 7 to December 19, 2026. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, 12-2PM.

We welcome work that is playful, mysterious, folkloric, fantastical, strange, beautiful, thoughtful, or simply a little bit magical.

Come and make something to celebrate the dark half of the year.

If you are experiencing any barriers with the submission process; whether technical, access-related, or otherwise, please contact us. We are happy to support you in a way that works for you.
