Thank you for your interest in becoming an Approved Brainspotting Consultant.
Brainspotting Consultants are ambassadors of Brainspotting as demonstrated by their commitment to Brainspotting principles and culture. This is seen through their engagement in Brainspotting community, their spirit of growing Brainspotting and embodiment of the anti-oppression/anti-racism principles of Brainspotting. Consultants are expected to participate in ongoing Brainspotting training, personal Brainspotting sessions, and strive to continually develop their self-awareness. Consultants are also expected to be organized, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be open-minded and seek to be supportive rather than competitive.
This training process will include 3 main stages: 1) Solidifying Brainspotting Knowledge and understanding the process of consultation, 2) Embodiment of Brainspotting principles/Person of the Brainspotting Consultant, 3) Consultation of Brainspotting Consultation. In the first stage, we will review Phase 1 and 2 material, including reviewing and analyzing recorded Brainspotting sessions, and discuss the required elements of the Brainspotting consultation process. In the second stage, we will focus on how each of you are embodying the principles of Brainspotting, beyond your Brainspotting sessions, and developing your style of Brainspotting Consultation. Finally, in the third stage, you will begin the consultation of consultation process with 1-2 consultees. You are also expected to facilitate one Phase 1 training and one Phase 2 training over the course of the program.
In addition to the meeting schedule listed below, you are expected to review BSP videos and literature, prepare presentations, participate in role play exercises and journal process oriented reflections. In preparation for the third stage, you will be required to procure a consultee, and discuss your consultation process and experience with your peers.
Eligibility to become a Brainspotting Consultant-in-Training (CIT):
1.) Has been a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner for a minimum of one year.
2.) Has attended the most recently developed trainings: Phase 1 and Phase 2
3.) Has attending at least three of the following 4 trainings: Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5 or Master Class.
4.) Possesses the characteristics of an Approved Brainspotting Consultant and Affirms Brainspotting Culture as noted above.
5.) Engages in Activities that promote Brainspotting.
6.) Demonstrates involvement in Brainspotting Community.
7.) Provides a letter of reference/recommendation form their certifying consultant ( if this is not possible, the applicant will provide an explanation).
Costs associated with the training process: $2000 for the training, $250 for purchasing Phase 1 and 2 videos (if you do not already have them), $50 for the Application for Approval as a Brainspotting Consultant at completion of the training, additional costs for recommended/required reading material. Payment can be paid in full or will be due monthly; the first payment of $250 is due January 1, 2027. Monthly payments of $250 will be automatically processed at the beginning of each following month (final payment Aug 1). Understanding that unforeseen circumstance may arise that impede your completion of the CIT process, the training fee will be prorated. Costs for videos and other materials are non-refundable.
Upon acceptance to the BIPOC CIT program, you will receive a CIT agreement.
The 2026 training dates are a combination of two intensive days, several 2-hour meeting dates and one 30 minute meeting with Linnea (to be scheduled individually):
Training dates are listed below. Unless otherwise indicated, the meeting time is on Tuesdays, 11am-1pm Central. These dates are subject to change based on the needs of the group. CIT's are expected to make every effort to attend the scheduled meetings. If too many meetings are missed, you may not be eligible to complete the program as scheduled; however, within reason, an individual plan for completion may be developed to support program completion.
