Women Building the Reset is an interactive roundtable and networking session bringing women from across construction and the wider built environment together for professional visibility, practical discussion and meaningful networking.

Our central question is:

“If we are resetting construction, what should we do differently?”

The session will include four facilitated roundtable conversations followed by a short report-back and open networking.

Places at the roundtables are limited.

We are therefore inviting registrations and will allocate places across the four tables, taking account of participants’ first, second and third preferences and aiming to create a strong mix of disciplines and experience around each table.

Important: Registration for this session does not provide entry to UK Construction Week. All participants must also register separately with UK Construction Week Birmingham 2026 to gain access to the NEC and the event.

Participants will remain at one table for the full 25-minute conversation. Please choose the conversations that genuinely interest you — they do not need to correspond directly with your own profession.

Central question:
If we were rebuilding construction’s workforce from scratch, what would we do differently?

The conversation may explore trades and site careers, skills shortages, recruitment and apprenticeships, retention and progression, training pathways, workplace environments and long-term career attraction.

Design • Digital • Innovation • Sustainability • Delivery

Central question:
If we could redesign the construction process, what would we change?

The conversation may explore design management, architecture and engineering coordination, BIM and digital delivery, innovation, sustainability, project and construction management, early specialist involvement and cross-discipline collaboration.

Central question:
When something goes wrong in construction, who really owns the responsibility — and how should we change that?

The conversation may explore building safety, technical responsibility, competence, Building Regulations, quality assurance, accountability, communication between designers, contractors and specialists, and speaking up and challenge.

Central question:
Do the way we procure, contract and manage construction projects encourage the behaviours we actually want?

The conversation may explore procurement, contracts, commercial relationships, client–contractor relationships, leadership, workplace culture, collaboration, dispute avoidance and equality of opportunity.

One of the aims of Women Building the Reset is to ensure that everyone in the room gets seen — not only the speakers or table hosts.
