PET PARADE — RULES, PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS & WAIVER

ArtHaus welcomes pets and their people to join us for a fun, family-friendly community celebration! The safety and enjoyment of our participants, spectators, volunteers, and animals are our highest priorities. By registering for or participating in the Pet Parade, participants agree to the following rules and requirements.
PARTICIPATION RULES
*All pets must be accompanied by a responsible handler age 18 or older. Minors may walk with or assist in handling a pet but must be accompanied by an adult.
*Pets must be properly restrained at all times. Dogs must be on a secure, non-retractable leash no longer than 6 feet. Other participating animals must be safely restrained, contained, harnessed, or otherwise controlled in a manner appropriate for the animal.
*No animals may be permitted to roam freely or participate off-leash.
*Pets must be healthy and current on all vaccinations required by law. Participants should not bring an animal displaying signs of illness or a contagious condition.
Aggressive animals are prohibited. Pets with a known history of aggressive behavior toward people or other animals should not participate.
*Handlers must maintain control of their pets at all times. Excessive barking, lunging, threatening behavior, fighting, or other conduct that may create a safety concern may result in immediate removal from the parade or festival grounds.
*Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their animals. Please bring appropriate waste bags and dispose of waste properly.
*Animals must be able to safely tolerate a public-event environment. The festival may include crowds, children, other animals, music, amplified sound, costumes, vehicles, performers, and other unfamiliar sights and sounds.
*Costumes and accessories must be safe and humane. Costumes may not restrict an animal's breathing, vision, hearing, movement, or ability to regulate body temperature. All costumes must be family friendly.
*Animal welfare comes first. ArtHaus reserves the right to deny participation or remove an animal if staff or event officials reasonably believe the animal is distressed, overheated, improperly restrained, aggressive, ill, or otherwise unable to participate safely.
*Handlers are responsible for providing their pets with water and attending to their individual needs before, during, and after the parade.
*No commercial sale, adoption, transfer, or solicitation involving animals is permitted as part of the parade without prior written authorization from ArtHaus.
All participants must follow the directions of ArtHaus staff, parade marshals, law enforcement, City personnel, and event officials.
WEATHER & ANIMAL SAFETY
Florida weather can be unpredictable. Participants are responsible for determining whether weather and surface conditions are appropriate for their individual animal.
Handlers should consider heat, humidity, pavement temperature, sun exposure, hydration, breed, age, physical condition, and the animal's individual tolerance before participating.
ArtHaus may modify, postpone, shorten, or cancel the Pet Parade if conditions are determined to be unsafe for participants or animals.
PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY
Each owner/handler is solely responsible for the care, custody, supervision, behavior, and control of their animal.
The owner/handler is also responsible for any injury, damage, loss, or other harm caused by their animal to another person, animal, or property, to the extent provided by applicable law.
Participation in the Pet Parade does not constitute supervision, boarding, care, custody, or control of the participant's animal by ArtHaus.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK & PARTICIPATION WAIVER
Please read carefully before signing.
I understand that participation in a public pet parade and outdoor festival involves inherent risks to both people and animals. These risks may include, but are not limited to, interaction with other animals and members of the public; crowds; noise; weather and heat; pavement and walking surfaces; falls; bites or scratches; unexpected animal behavior; illness; injury; property damage; and other conditions associated with participating in a public event involving animals.
I voluntarily choose to participate and voluntarily bring my animal(s) onto the event grounds with knowledge of these risks.
I represent that, to the best of my knowledge, my participating animal is healthy, appropriately vaccinated as required by law, adequately controlled, and suitable for participation in a crowded public event.
I accept responsibility for supervising and controlling my animal at all times and for any injury or property damage caused by my animal to the extent provided by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by Florida law, I voluntarily assume the risks inherent in my participation in the Pet Parade and agree to release and hold harmless ArtHaus Foundation and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, event partners, sponsors, and representatives from claims arising from the ordinary risks inherent in my voluntary participation in the Pet Parade, except to the extent such release is prohibited by applicable law.
I understand that this waiver does not waive rights or claims that cannot legally be waived under Florida law.
INDEMNIFICATION
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless ArtHaus Foundation, the City of Port Orange, and POPD from third-party claims, damages, or expenses resulting from the actions or behavior of an animal under my care or control during the Pet Parade or while on the event grounds.
EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
I understand that I remain responsible for my animal's care at all times. In the event of an emergency, I authorize event personnel to contact emergency services or take reasonable immediate action they believe necessary to protect people or animals when I am unavailable or unable to act.
I understand that I remain responsible for veterinary care and any associated costs for my animal.
PHOTO & MEDIA RELEASE
I understand that the ArtHaus Family Arts Festival and Pet Parade are public events where photography and video recording may occur.
I grant ArtHaus Foundation permission to photograph or record me and/or my participating animal during the event and to use those images or recordings for legitimate ArtHaus promotional, educational, fundraising, archival, social media, website, and publicity purposes without compensation.
RIGHT TO REFUSE OR REMOVE PARTICIPANTS
I understand that ArtHaus reserves the right, in its reasonable discretion, to refuse participation or require the removal of any person or animal whose behavior, health, restraint, condition, or circumstances present a safety or welfare concern or violate event rules.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By signing below, I confirm that I have read and understand the Pet Parade Rules, Participation Requirements & Waiver, agree to abide by them, and voluntarily choose to participate.
