COMMUNITY COLLEGE/TECHNICAL COLLEGE/TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Optimist Club of the Westbank recognizes that education is the key to a better way of life for our children. The Tier 2 Scholarship will be given to a Westbank student whose services to the community and academic achievements are best aligned with their future goals. The Optimist Club of the Westbank is helping support the workforce and businesses in our community.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

These scholarships are a one-time scholarship. Scholarships will be given to high school students attending a community college, technical college, or trade school.

CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for a scholarship, student must satisfy the following minimum requirements:

Candidate must have minimum registration requirements.

Candidate must have one letter of recommendation from an educator or non-relative.

Candidate must have participated in extracurricular and community service activities OR work experience.

Candidate must submit an essay of a minimum of 200 words, typed on the topic specified on the application.

Complete application must be submitted to Optimist Club of the Westbank via electronic submission to optimistwestbank@gmail.com or USPS to the Scholarship Committee, Attn: Tier 2, Westbank Optimist Club, at P.O. Box 1534, Gretna, Louisiana 70054-1534 on or before Last Day of February.

Note: If you live on the Westbank of Jefferson, Plaquemines, or Orleans (Algiers) Parish, but attend high school elsewhere you can apply. The student must attend a Louisiana technical college or community college.
