• First-Generation Online Student Study: Eligibility Screening Form

    Thank you for your interest in the First-Generation Online Student Study. Please answer the questions below so the researcher can determine whether you meet the study’s eligibility requirements. Submitting this screening form does not enroll you in the study. The researcher will review your responses and contact you by email regarding the next step. If you appear eligible, you will receive a separate informed consent form before participating in any research activities.
  • Your email address will be used only to communicate with you about this study. It will be stored separately from your demographic questionnaire and interview transcript.
  • Are you 18 years of age or older?*
  • Are you a first-generation college student? For this study, “first-generation college student” means that neither of your parents nor legal guardians has completed a four-year college degree.*
  • Are you currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an online private university in the United States?*
  • How are you currently attending your program?*
  • Are you able to read and speak English well enough to use a mobile app and participate in an interview conducted in English?*
  • After reviewing the study activities, are you willing and able to participate for two weeks, complete both weekly journal entries, and attend the interview?*

  • What Happens Next?

    The researcher will review your responses to determine your eligibility. If your screening is approved, you will receive an email with a link to the informed consent form. Watch for study emails displaying “Tony Reyna, Study Researcher,” sent through a Jotform email address. Please check your inbox and spam or junk folder regularly so you do not miss study emails. If a study email is in spam or junk, mark it as “Not spam” or “Not junk” to help future messages reach your inbox.

    Please read the consent form carefully. If you choose to participate, sign it electronically. After your signed consent is received, you will receive a separate email with your participant ID and a link to the demographic questionnaire. Please wait until your eligibility is confirmed and you receive your participant ID before completing the demographic questionnaire.
