Ms. Jocelyn Garcia, a graduate of Baylor University and Arizona State University (Master’s), is an adroit media and communications professional, teacher, and research scholar. She develops and delivers key strategic spokesperson and media messaging to prospective students. Her research at Arizona State University focuses on critical issues in public health, medicine, pandemic response, and biosafety, reflecting her steadfast dedication to advancing global health awareness, safety, and education.
Dr. James Giordano, is a distinguished leader in neuroethics, brain science, and biotechnology, serving as the Pellegrino Center Professor of Neurology and Biochemistry, Chief of the Neuroethics Studies Program, and Chair of the Subprogram in Military Medical Ethics at Georgetown University Medical Center. An author of over 350 peer-reviewed publications, 7 books, and 40 governmental reports on ethics and policy, Dr. Giordano is an elected member of the European Academy of Science and Arts and an Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK). He also serves as Senior Bioethicist at the Defense Medical Ethics Center, Stockdale Distinguished Fellow at the United States Naval Academy, and Science Advisory Fellow of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon.
Established to honor their shared commitment to health equity and academic excellence, the Garcia-Giordano Scholarship in Public Health and Medicine supports ambitious students, with a special focus on empowering Native American scholars from the Navajo reservation in New Mexico, to allow them to pursue collegiate trajectories in STEM and healthcare.
