  • A Few Things to Know About Foster Dogs

  • Rescue dogs come from all kinds of backgrounds and trauma, we want to be upfront about what that can mean. Often the stress of transition and fear can cause anxiety, shut-down, and other temporary behaviors. This would be the case for any of us in their shoes!

  • We know foster dogs can need time to settle in — are you comfortable with some shedding, accidents, and wear-and-tear during that adjustment period?*
  • Are you comfortable fostering a dog with unknown medical or behavior history?*
  • Are you prepared for a dog that may be working on housetraining? (regression can happen when dogs are under a lot of stress and during frequent transition)*
  • Are you able to travel to pick up a foster from Lizzy's Lodge Rescue?*
