Technical Collage is an online collage course by @canson_city via Zoom, divided into 2 classes focused on developing precision, layering, and three-dimensional construction techniques. The course is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike. No previous collage experience is required.
Class 1
We’ll begin with a lecture on the history of collage, looking at how the medium emerged, its main exponents, and the different techniques that have shaped its development. We’ll then move into the technical foundations of cutting, learning how to use a blade with precision to create rings, circles, intricate fretwork, and other detailed shapes.
The class will finish with a guided collage project, with a step-by-step demonstration and individual guidance throughout the process.

Class 2
We’ll move from flat compositions into three-dimensional collage, working inside a small box such as a soap or noodle box. Through a step-by-step demonstration, you’ll learn how to build layers and create depth using simple materials and structures.
You’ll then create your own three-dimensional collage with guidance throughout the process, exploring how layering, scale, spacing, and perspective can be used to create depth and balance within a confined space.

Classes take place live on Tuesdays, October 14 and 21. Each session lasts 2 hours and you can pick between 2 shifts. The cost is $85 for both online classes, with recordings sent to participants afterwards. No previous experience is required. Payable via PayPal.
