  • All lifters must be members of the CANPL/APU to compete. All athletes must obtain this membership prior to the registration.

Athletes will be asked to present their membership card at weigh-ins. Failure to provide proof of membership will result in disqualification. For CANPL/APU membership, please visit https://albertapowerlifting.com/become-a-member/.

Membership sign up is convenient and takes only a few minutes; available online.

  • Tentative Meet Schedule

  • Bench Only

    • Weigh-ins & Equipment Check: 6:00am

    3-Lift Morning Session

    • Weigh-ins & Equipment Check: 8:00 am

Typically the younger age classes/lighter weight classes are put in the morning session and the older age classes/heavier weight classes are put in the afternoon session. However, this is dependent on the number of lifters registered in each age/weight class and therefore is NOT guaranteed to always be the case.

Please ensure you are available for the full day before you register as we cannot guarantee which session you will be lifting in until close to meet day

A detailed schedule with the full list of of lifters in the different flights/sessions will be sent to registered athletes after the entry deadline has passed.

Weigh-ins will not necessarily be in the order of lightest to heaviest. All lifters are expected to be at the venue half an hour before weigh-in. The weigh-in order and lot numbers will be posted outside the weigh in room. If you do not make the weight class specified on your entry sheet, you will be moved up or down a weight class to accommodate your actual weight.

The athlete’s total, records, and placing will still be valid; however, the APU and Meet Directors are not responsible for mailing or delivering medals or contest material after the closing of the competition

  • Drug Testing

  • The pursuit of doping-free sport is a matter of public interest. CANPL is committed to eradicating the use of performance enhancing drugs from powerlifting in Canada. As such, all members of CANPL, by virtue of membership, are agreeing to submit to periodic drug testing, either at a sanctioned CANPL contest, or on a "short notice" or "no notice" out of competition basis. It is frowned upon to enter contests knowingly using or previously using PEDS. This action carries the risk of suspension. Doping is cheating in the APU/CANPL/IPF.

The CANPL follows the guidelines of the Sports Integrity Canada. Sports Integrity Canada sets the rules that govern doping control in Canada. Compliant to the World Anti-Doping Agency, Sports Integrity Canada describes how the program is carried out and details the process of results management, including penalties for infractions. All athletes must complete the Sports Integrity Canada online education model to earn their certificate before they are allowed to compete. The module can be completed on the Sports Integrity Canada website: E-Learning Module

YOU MUST BRING A PRINTED COPY OR SCREENSHOT OF YOUR SPORTS INTEGRITY CANADA CERTIFICATE. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THIS COURSE

Full details of the drug testing protocols that the CANPL adheres to may be found on the Sports Integrity Canada website at: Sports Integrity Canada: Anti-Doping

$15 of the entry fee will be going towards drug testing (Sport Integrity Canada). If drug testing is unable to be secured, then fees will be signed over to the APU and used towards future drug testing in the province.
