• Māori and Pasifika Impact Producing Lab2026

  • Application Form

  • The Māori and Pasifika Impact Producing Lab is an eight-week professional development programme for Māori and Pasifika screen practitioners based in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Up to eight practitioners will be selected, each bringing a screen project they are actively working on.

Across the Lab, participants will use their own projects to explore how screen stories can connect with audiences and communities, build meaningful partnerships, and contribute to outcomes beyond simply being watched.

You do not need previous experience in impact producing. You do not need to know what an impact strategy is, use particular terminology, or already have an audience, engagement or impact plan. Developing this thinking and learning how to apply it to your own project is the purpose of the Lab.

The Lab will run from 12 October to 7 December 2026.

    Applications close 11.59pm, Sunday 27 September 2026.

Before starting your application, please have ready:

  • This does not need to be a professionally designed pitch deck. A simple document is completely fine. We are interested in the project and its potential, not the quality of its design or presentation.

    Please cover the following:
  • 1. Your Project
Tell us what you are making. Include the working title, format, a synopsis and a fuller description of the story.

    2. Where the project is at
Tell us about the project's current stage, the development or production work that has happened so far, what is happening next, and your role in the project.

    3. Why this story matters
Tell us about the themes, issues, communities, experiences, cultural context or conversations that sit around the story. Why does this project matter to you, and why might it matter to others?

    4. Who you think the story could reach
Are there particular audiences, communities, organisations or groups that could have a meaningful connection to this story? Tell us who and why.

    5. What could happen beyond people watching it?
What would you like the project to contribute to in the world?

This could include starting or changing a conversation, strengthening connection, increasing understanding, supporting a community, creating educational opportunities, challenging perceptions, encouraging action, supporting advocacy, influencing decision-makers, or contributing to a wider issue.

We are not asking you to develop an impact campaign for this application.

You do not need to have an impact strategy already developed, know impact-producing terminology, or know exactly what the project's impact could be. We want to understand the project, what sits around the story, and whether there is potential to develop meaningful impact work through the Lab.

If you already have a pitch deck, treatment or project document that addresses the areas above, you can submit that instead. You do not need to create a new professionally designed document specifically for this application.
