For everyone's safety and enjoyment:
- Participants must remain on the designated Zombie Walk route.
- Participants must follow instructions from event staff, volunteers, law enforcement, and public-safety personnel.
- Participants must obey pedestrian and traffic signals.
- Children must remain under appropriate adult supervision.
- Costumes, props, and makeup must not create an unreasonable hazard to the participant or others.
- No real weapons are permitted as costume props.
- Costume props resembling weapons may be prohibited at the discretion of event organizers or law enforcement.
- Participants may not intentionally frighten, chase, touch, grab, or otherwise interfere with uninvolved members of the public.
- Participants must respect businesses, residences, public property, and private property along the route.
- Harassment, fighting, threatening behavior, or intentionally dangerous conduct will result in removal from the event.
- No pets allowed within the Horde outside of registered service animals.
- Participants are responsible for properly disposing of trash and helping us leave Amherst looking considerably less apocalyptic than we found it.
Participant Waiver & Release

I understand that participation in the Amherst Charity Zombie Walk & Bash involves walking outdoors on public sidewalks, streets, parking areas, and other public or private property and may involve risks including, but not limited to, falls, uneven surfaces, interaction with vehicles or pedestrians, weather conditions, physical exertion, crowd-related hazards, and other foreseeable or unforeseeable risks associated with participation in a public event.
I voluntarily choose to participate in the event and knowingly assume the ordinary risks associated with my participation.
To the fullest extent permitted by Virginia law, I release and hold harmless the event organizers, sponsors, volunteers, participating organizations, property owners, vendors, and their respective officers, employees, agents, and representatives from claims arising from ordinary risks associated with my voluntary participation in the event, except to the extent a claim cannot lawfully be waived or released.
I understand that I am responsible for determining whether I am physically capable of participating in the walk and related activities.
I agree to follow instructions provided by event organizers, volunteers, law enforcement, emergency personnel, and Town officials and to obey applicable pedestrian and traffic laws throughout the event.
I understand that the event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant whose conduct creates a safety concern or substantially disrupts the event.
If I am registering a minor, I certify that I am authorized to provide consent for that minor and accept these terms on the minor's behalf to the extent permitted by law.
